Stayed one night on a whirlwind tour of San Francisco. Rooms are large and relatively well appointed but not quite 4 star IMO. Bed and linens were fantastic. Despite the drunk loud lunatics that were returning to their rooms at 4 AM the room was amazingly quiet. The free Starbucks coffee stand outside the lobby level elevators was a really nice touch (and greatly appreciated in the morning).

Like some other reviewers noted the area immediately surrounding the hotel is filthy. There are some great destinations and cool bars and restaurants within walking distance so if you map out where you're going, walk briskly and ignore the negative crap it's still a good time.

The lobby and the bar seemed understaffed so the service was slow but the staff was friendly. There are many fine hotels in the area. I'm sure this is one of them.

We are extremely pleased, callmaniac, to hear that you enjoyed an overall good visit while staying with us. Thank you for noting our Luxe Egyptian cotton linens and comfortable beds. They certainly are fantastic! We apologize for the noise disturbance due to neighboring guests and appreciate your patience and understanding. Thank you for also bringing to our attention the delay in service you received so that we may follow up and make the proper adjustments. We agree with you 100%; Hotel Adagio is definitely one of the finest hotels in the San Francisco area! Our staff anxiously awaits the next opportunity to serve you and your family again.

A marriott hotel. Newly redone rooms are nicely appointed. Doesn't feel like a chain. Love the hand lotion. Quiet rooms. Breakfast was delicious. Attentive and friendly staff. Few easy walking blocks from union square. Bathrooms totally redone. I'd recommend the hotel.

Nice classy rooms. Clean. Spacious. The staff in the reception is nice, but the reception is often understaffed so if you call or try to see them (e.g. on check out) it may take a while. There are only a couple of elevators so if you don't want to wait for those you might want to take stairs.

We loved having you as our guest, Georges-P-Stephan! Thank you for such a wonderful review and recommendation. We are certain that other travelers will find your chocolate waffle suggestion extremely satisfying also. It's great that our very close proximity to Union Square was convenient for you. There are quite a lot of nearby San Francisco attractions that our guests enjoy visiting during their stay with us. We hope you will be back to enjoy all that Hotel Adagio and our exciting city has to offer very soon.

We stayed here in mid-November for 2 nights, and really enjoyed Hotel Adagio. The lobby is open and inviting with a contemporary/posh style lounge on one side and a full bar on the other. The room was very comfortable, and equally stylish. We were on the 11th floor, well above any potential street noise, so I can't comment on whether it existed or not. The furniture was updated and sleek, and the bathroom and fixtures were modern and minimalistic. The towels were the softest hotel bathrooms I've ever experienced, so it's worth mentioning. The queen sized bed was very comfortable and really hit the spot. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant had a pretty good selection of standards and local fare. The wait staff seemed a little distracted when we were there, but there were only 3 other tables, but the food was great. The bar also had a wide selection, and a very friendly and knowledgeable bartending staff to compliment. HA is conveniently located - an easy 1.5 mi walk to the port, and a hilly 1.5 from Pier 39. Across the street is a bar/nightclub, and a number of restaurants and shopping spots are in close proximity.

Lastly, others have commented on the indigent roaming Geary. I walked around quite a bit during my visit, and the SF homeless population seemed larger than what I've experienced in other cities. So I wouldn't say that there are more of these individuals around HA in particular, just more in the city in general.

In short, we would highly recommend HA, and will definitely consider staying here in the future.

We always thoroughly enjoy hearing about our guests' stylish and comfortable experiences with us! Thank you for taking the time to give us your compliments on our amazing accommodations and location, and for also pointing out that there is a homeless population in our city as a whole, not any more around our location in particular. Your high recommendation and 5 star rating is exactly what we strive to achieve and is greatly appreciated! We would be honored to have you as our loyal guest and look forward to seeing you again.

Just stayed one night at the Adagio in a King room. Nicely appointed and very clean. Shower/toilet area was a little small but the room itself was very spacious and comfortable. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, especially the front desk clerks. It had a nice looking bar, but we didn't get a chance to have a drink. The location is really great, super close to Union Square and the Curran theater is a half block away. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby as well. You can walk to all sorts of stuff. I would definitely stay here again when I am in SF.

Room Tip: Ask for upper floors. Its quieter and Geary st. is kind of loud.

awesome! good sized rooms with superb furnishings. Really appreciated 24 hour coffe/tea in lobby. The only slight disadvantage was the restaurant wasn't open for dinner but instead availabilty was in the small and rather noisy bar. However there are so many eating places around it wasn't a biggie.

Room Tip: were on the 12th floor and there was no noise at all
