“Miss it already.”
Reviewed September 4, 2013 via mobile

Rooms were lovely & quiet, view of the GS bridge, robes. comfy beds.
Hospitality were very helpful in directing us to resturants and sight seeing.
Best of all the evening, wine gathering in the beautiful lounge area with the amazing Sangria. I miss that so much!
I cant find the recipe anywhere.Makes me want to return, just for that alone.

Ajagtdd,
Let me see here.... I do have the secret recipe if you'd like to drop me a line, though it is tempting to keep it under wraps to ensure you come back and see us again :). I'll tell you, the kicker that makes it is definitely watermelon juice (and the basil). So refreshing, right?
You got to us just in the nick of time before the summer sangria season ended, though we are still featuring a local beer (Anchor Steam) and our red & white "Wines That Care," too!

We'd really struggled to find accommodation in San Francisco over an exceptionally busy weekend in August, we were happy with the Argonaut. I'd probably choose to stay in another location on a second visit to SF - Fishermen's wharf is too full of tourists - but if you want to stay here, the Argonaut is a good choice.

We were already paying more than we'd planned as cheaper places were sold out, but I think we'd booked the cheapest room option at the Argonaut. It was oddly shaped making it feel small, with a window at a level with the pavement outside... We'd been befriended by a bell-boy when we arrived and he actually arranged for us to move to a bigger/better room on a second day. I'm not sure whether this was an actual upgrade, or just a better room at that price point. But its definitely worth asking about room allocation as there seems to be a lot of variation.

Staff were really helpful on advice on getting around SF and the breakfast served at the hotel was really good too.

The gym looked well kitted out, but we didn't use it.

Room Tip: Ask to avoid the rooms at street level. The hills of SF may mean you're looking out the window a...

Hi, GorillaDan!
I'm glad that you found "room at the inn" here over that packed time in August! We'll let the bellmen know that his help finding you a better fit room really made the difference in the stay. Kudos the to chef, too, though why did you have to go and make me hungry :)? It is hard not to eat that quiche every day................

My husband and I stayed for 1 week on vacation and were very pleased with the entire experience. It was so close to everything, we walked everywhere. The room was very well put together and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly, giving us ideas on where to go and what to do. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Stayed two nights. Close to the ocean, on fisherman's wharf. Lot of shops nearby. Very touristy area. Rooms do have a quaint nautical theme. Staff are friendly and helpful. Has a slow elevator, try the stairs instead. Very family friendly, not very ideal for business. Has free beverages in the lobby if you have some time.
Signing up for Kimpton membership gives you free internet and $10 credit on minibar. Rooms away from elevator would be nice.
Overall will recommend it when with family and friends.

Hi, Kamesh_E! Thanks for coming halfway around the world to see us -- I love India!
It's great to read that you loved the city and everyone gave you the warm Argonaut welcome here. The elevator does have its peak demand times, but, you're right, the stairs are easy here if you ever have to wait more than one minute! I hope that even though we are not right in the financial district, you might also consider us for a business trip. We can assist with a limited morning town car service and also with the F-streetcar, which is located just 1.5 blocks away on Jones Street. Cheers!

A wonderful experience. The staff was helpful, friendly and professional. The rooms were comfortable, lovely the wild robes in the room. For our first time in San Francisco, the location could not have been more convenient. Easy access to the cable cars, Fisherman's wharf. Would definitely return to this hotel.

Thanks, dkramer814 - that headline is just what we are about! And those robes definitely speak to the fun we try to have here. I hope you got to enjoy chatting with the team or meeting other guests at the wine party. The weather is awesome here this week, so I am also recommending kicking back on our patio at the Blue Mermaid!

We stayed a whole week in Argonaut. The hotel is located at Fisherman's Wharf. Walking distance to many offices as well as touristic sites in SF. No need to rent a car. Parking fees are worst than NY. The concierge desk can arrange for car rental with drop off and pick up at the hotel for a reasonable fee.
Getting out of the door, to the Right you have the super crowded neighborhood filled with souvenir shops and cheap restaurants. to the left, you have the tall trees and a small beach where locals swim in the cold water.
They have a very cute happy hour from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in the lobby where guests socialize among each other. The complimentary apple cider was delicious. There are chess tables, wii and lots of seating arrangements for different age groups. The 6 complimentary bikes were a nice touch. Our room was clean but bathroom was ok. No shower, just a tub with a plastic curtain.
The hotel restaurant was terrible. Bad service and ok food. Better go out to eat. Plenty of good restaurants in the neighborhood from In and Out hamburgers to Gary Danko, all under 5 minutes walk.
A public tennis court with the best view of the bay is only 7 minutes away.
Everywhere you can see attention to details in the interior design and the nautical theme. All together, a great hotel for families with kids.

Room Tip: The rooms on the left side of the hotel had better views and more quiet than the front.

Hi, sjaz! I'm glad you got to enjoy that relaxing park next door and even gander at the locals who take the plunge in the cold ocean. An invigorating way to view the Bridge, I suppose! I'll share your feedback with our team here, and let everyone know you enjoyed the apple cider, wii games, and bike rentals. Those have turned out to be a huge hit! Thank you!

Great spot in San Fran! 30 second walk to the ocean and a little beach. Very clean, somewhat unique looking rooms. Would highly recommend, I'd be stay here again, very helpful and friendly staff of the hotel! The restaurant had one employee that was a bit questionable... Probably got fired, ignored me when I was waiting to be seated by myself, assumed I was waiting for someone... Guess he didn't think I was going to eat alone.
