Fun and friendly hotel right in the heart of the Fisherman's Wharf district. The building is a converted fish cannery building with a grand lobby with fireplace which encompasses mist if the main floor. Rooms are timber beams, brick walls and primary colors with accents of mirrors and modern eclectic collection of art and furniture. Friendly includes a complimentary wine reception every day at 5 for the guests. A wonderful hotel with all the right touches. Free wifi.......newspaper - all the essential extras - when in San Fran - not to be missed.

Room Tip: King suite - if entertaining is an exceptionally large space if you are entertaining or having a bus...

I had chosen this hotel for its location and it was an excelllent choice. Easy to walk to all tourist areas on the waterfront, but on the quiet end of the action. Rooms were clean and we had a king with view of alcatraz. Wine happy hour was perfect in the afternoon before dinner! Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Can only say great things about this hotel!

This Hotel is in a great location. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I had mentioned that we were celebrating our 25th Wedding anniversary this year and there was a really lovely bottle of red wine waiting for us in our room with a congratulatory note. They serve free hot chocolate with all the toppings from 3-4 in the afternoon and this is followed at 5 with an hours wine reception. All included. This gives the management an opportunity to talk to the guests and ensure that you are happy. We went on to stay at the Solamar Hotel in San Diego, and received a similar welcome. I joined the Kimpton 'club' (which is free) and received 10 dollars worth of minibar goods. Would now happily stay in any Kimpton hotel now!

Room Tip: I asked for a quiet room high up. The only problem was the A/C unit on the roof. But we had a grea...

Large rooms, light and comfort. We shared a room for two in a double queen deluxe. Amazing beddding !
No breakfast included, a nice restaurant downstairs next door. Advice : have the Quiche, it is heaven baked :-)
Pricy in high season. If you have an opportunity to pay a visit in low s"ason, this hotel provides the Kimpton experience, creative and discreet luxury.

Room Tip: The double queen is large. Make sure you ask for a nice room otherwise you may face a wall on the gr...

Hi, Dejemaje! That's a great image, and just what we strive for: a quiet spot in the middle of everything! I'm glad you got to luxuriate in the larger rooms and comfy beds. They are new from our renovation. The quiche is an old favorite, and one I hope they never take off the menu... worth every calorie!

geat hotel very friendly and definatly a great area to stay in. We ate at the resurant a couple of time and found the staff there very friendly and the food was good. This hotel is located in fisherman wharf and I would highly recomend you base your holiday there. It is a good walking area and the hop on hop off bus is just around the corner and so is the cable car so you can get everywhere form there

Nicely done renovation in the old DelMonte Cannery building in Fisherman's Wharf, around the corner from Ghiradelli Square and a cable car turntable. Great access to much of the city from here. Recommendation - take the cable car to Union Square for some shopping and stop for an ice cream cone from Swenson's on the way back. Kimpton does a nice job here like at their other hotels. Grab a glass of wine at the complimentary wine tasting hour by the fireplace. And the kids can grab a hot chocolate - great nautical theme that's fun for the entire family!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Hyde St. Pier and the Bay!

Thanks, pvollmer. Swenson's is an old classic, and it is a great suggestion to hop off the cable car early to enjoy Russian Hill neighborhood with all its charming views, restaurants, and, yes, ICE CREAM. If you are ever looking for a convenient quick-fix, we also have Ben & Jerry's in our Cannery building (as well as a neat wine bar, bicycle rental (first 4 bikes/day free through our concierge!) and of course Starbucks).
Wine is ongoing and though hot chocolate has gone for the season, we have expanded our wine hour with some local Anchor Steam beer this month. Cheers!

I fretted over finding just the right hotel that would put us in the action...but not in the "cheesiest " area of The Wharf. We loved The Argonaut! First morning opened our plantation shutters to a postcard view of The GG Bridge, the park, and Ghiridelli's! We walked up the block for an Irish Coffee at The Buena Vista.....we walked across the street to the cable cars. You can take it to the front door of Nordstrom! Anyway, the hotel was clean, comfortable, friendly, and we would stay there again! I would definitely recommend 4th floor, with the bay view.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 440 and it was perfect!

MolliesellsDenver, you have sold me on bay view rooms :). The Hyde Street overlook is pretty breathtaking, isn't it? And I always tell people there's no shame in enjoying the local tourist things like Buena Vista's Irish coffee or the adjacent cable car up to Union Square...these are classic San Francisco experiences for a reason, and part of steeping yourself in our local history!
