“Best place to stay for lux feeling if you only have two days to see San Francisco.”
Reviewed November 18, 2012 via mobile

We spent our honeymoon/1 year anniversary celebration here. Location is phenomenal! A few blocks from pier 39, you can catch a trolley around the corner, a few blocks from Gary Danko, Ghiradelli square and you can see the Golden Gate bridge from the hotel's front door. Concierge was a breeze and hooked us up with a rental car when we needed one; same day! They provide wine tastings at 5pm, there are games in the lobby and the place is dog friendly. We got room service and loved it. The Decore is modern nautical and it definitely makes a bold statement with the full round mirror across from the bed, French shutters and animal print complimentary robes. Also, I fell in love with the bathroom wallpaper of tentacle illustrations. Good tips: eat somewhere different every time as you are surrounded by great choices, get to the fitness center early as they have about 7 machines and a free weight area. If your room is near children, be prepared to be woken by the sounds of Sponge Bob on the TV.
Loved it, would stay again for a special occasion.

FlyingNunley,
Wow! Thank you for thinking of us on your honeymoon AND 1-year anniversary! I'm really happy to hear we've been able to make both occasions even more memorable. Our staff gets a kick out of rolling out the red carpet for special occasions, so thank you for letting us know! We hope to see you again for your 2nd anniversary! We'll have a glass of red wine waiting for you during our evening wine reception.

Cheers!

David

My husband and I had seen this hotel while staying somewhere else on a visit
to San Francisco and thought it looked really nice.
We decided to book it on our last trip and we were not disappointed. The hotel was great and
the staff was even greater. This was in September. Our room looked out to the cable car turnaround and we could see the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. Like a postcard.

Well we are going back to San Francisco for Thanksgiving and I have booked a room at
the Argonaut again since we were so happy the last time we stayed.

Great location. Good food. Love it.

This was out third stay at a Kimpton Property and true to form, they impressed! Wonderful location on the strip along Fisherman's Wharf. Walking distance to many restaurants, shops and Sightseeing tour pick up locations as well as Pier 39. I wish they had a nicer on sight bar and restaurant but the nautical pub there had good food and good waitstaff and as I said, there are plenty of other options next to and close by (Including a gelato shop!) This hotel is newer and very contemporary compared to the old standards on the wharf and the staff are outstanding and couldn't be more helpful or cheerful!

Room Tip: The ocean view rooms give a fabulous look at the culture of this port city-not to mention gorgeous s...

In general this was a nice hotel, but I believe that we got a room with the worst view possible - into a crackeling facade.
The room was nice with two large beds. Everything was clean and leaves nothing to complain about. The staff was friendly (the bellboy was very skilled in "tip increasing conversation).

The room service was not as flexible and helpful as other hotels.

There was a complimentary wine tasting between 17:00 and 18:00 which pissed me off..... since I'm not the kind of tourist that spend my time at the hotel during that hour. Could have been a little later or a few more occasions in my opinion. Though that does not affect my grade since my focus is on the hotel and staff.

Argonaut Hotel does not get a higher grade because I got what expected in this price range and nothing more. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: If you read more reviews on this hotel, you can see that there apparently is rooms with a view.

This isn't the fanciest hotel in SF, but the service is extraordinary. The people just seem happy to work there and help out, and that's something I would expect in a more expensive hotel. It's adorably decorated in a great location for tourists.

We were greeted at the door by Donovan, the doorman.
He was really happy and friendly and very helpful.
Then we checked in with Taylor, who was also extremely friendly and helpful.
The wine reception was excellent.
The room was spacious and very well laid out, overlooking a nice courtyard with a coffee shop (excellent hot chocolate and ginger tea!) and a cool bar.
Despite overlooking a bar, the room was very well sound proofed and I had no trouble sleeping.
The location of the hotel is so convenient, at the end of Fisherman's Wharf, with some excellent restaurants right on the doorstep.
I would recommend this hotel!

We are pleased we selected Fisherman's Wharf rather than the Union Square area and the Argonaut was a great hotel in a very convenient location. We were able to walk to most attractions and found the cable car and trolley bus a great way to reach Union Square. The selection of restaurants and bars was great and the prices were competitive. The hotel room was very clean and comfortable and having a window that we could open was a bonus. We used the Kimpton November restaurant promotion for dining at The Blue Mermaid and would recommend the deal for when you are feeling particularly hungry. (Serving sizes are generous)Staff were polite and very helpful in both the restaurant and the hotel.
