Great hotel that is close to everything! Lots of places to eat and drink. From our room (partial ocean view) you could see the Golden Gate Bridge and Ghiradelli Square. The beds are super comfy and free WI-FI (a must for teens)!

We were going to an event at Fort Mason and wanted to be within walking distance. The Argonaut turned out to be the perfect choice. Located in the Cannery Building you are right in the middle of everything. The hotel has a fun nautical theme and the rooms were very quiet. The staff were all very friendly and we enjoyed the evening cocktail hour. We love Kimpton properties and this is one we will definitely go back to.

We were on our Honey moon and stopped of at this hotel for a long weekend on the way to Vegas. What can I say the staff were all lovley and the doormen were so helpfull and very friendly. As it was our honey moon as no sea view rooms were avlaible we were upgraded to a suite with the large sunkan jakuzi bath and seperate dinning room. We ordered room servoce one night as we were jet lagged so unable to make it out and that was brilliant, there was a Tv in the bedroom and a TV in the lounge.

Overall great hotel with lovley helpfull staff would deffinatly reccomend to anyone and is worth the extra few $$ to stay there.

Room tip: Brilliant

Ok, first, we booked our room with a special/promotion on the hotel website and got a great rate. Second, we signed up to be In Touch members and just for doing that when we arrived we were given a $10 credit in the mini bar (and the prices of the items in the mini bar were extremely reasonable). Even without this though, this is one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in. The service from all staff, including the doormen to the housekeepers was outstanding. I can't say enough about the little touches they offer, like offering the use of hair straighteners if you forgot yours to a million other things you can borrow. All rooms have umbrellas, safes and gorgeous decor. The attached Blue Mermaid was fanastic for lunch. The location down on the Wharf cannot be beat. It is right next to Ghiradellis and the cable car turn around point. For a cheap breakfast go next door to Jack's bar or ask the concierge. We loved it and will stay in Kimpton hotels whenever we can from now on.

Room tip: Check out all the promotions before you book.

Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco is one of those areas with a large choice of good hotels, so to stand out in the crowd takes some achieving. Being a conversion from a canning factory, The Argonaut does so with some aplomb.

Billed as a 'boutique' hotel, this manifests itself inescapably in its nautical theme - to the extent there is a star shaped pillow with their motif garnishing the bed. To be fair, this detail helps in the all important first impression on entering the guest room. Some of the detail in the décor is a little over the top (I never did work out what the little pieces of plastic that spin around in the door number plaques were all about).

The bed was supremely comfortable and very generously sized, as indeed was the room itself. We had one of the basic rooms which meant the view out of our window was of other rooms on the opposite side of a small courtyard. The rooms which have a 'real' view evidently attract a premium (I recall getting an email from Kimpton Hotels about a week before our stay inviting us to buy an upgrade).

Given the hotel's location and the fact that only a limited amount of our holiday time was to be spent awake in their, the view out of the window was the least of our concerns.

Everything else about the room was as expected - both good and not so good; no hotel can really influence occasionally noisy guests in a neighbouring room.

A slight negative point was that the room was billed as having free WiFi - this is true, but seemingly only conditional on signing up for a Kimpton Hotels loyalty card. This, to be fair, is free, but it struck me as a tawdry data mining exercise.
