We spent two nights to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary because we wanted to get to know the Presidio better. Our standard room (#322) had a very nice view, large room with comfortable bed, wonderful linens. Service was very good (refrigerator did not work and it was replaced right away). Continental breakfast (cereals, fruit, yogurt, pastries, toast, cheeses, cold cuts, juice, coffee) was excellent, same with the wine and cheese from 5-7pm. Parking is $8/day. Wonderful free transportation within the Park either along the water or along the hills. They even have a bus that comes from the Embarcadero BART station so you could actually visit without having to drive. The one surprise the first night was when at 1 am the fog horn started blowing every minute. Glad we had ear plugs. During our stay the fog burned off around 11 am and we had beautiful sunny weather the rest of the day.
The Visitor Center is fantastic, the rangers were very helpful. The Presidio Officer's Club has nice exhibits. There are many cafes on the grounds as well as restaurants.
We made it a point to stay on the grounds during the two days. We did some hiking/walking. The Korean Memorial and the Cemetery were very moving.
Inn at the Presidio is a great place to stay at.More
