My friend and I decided to run into State Bird for a bite before the movies, only to find out that if we wanted a table we would have to wait quite awhile, but a space at the bar would probably be within 30 minutes. Yes, we said, and went to Social Studies for a drink, and sure enough they called us that our spot was ready.
At the counter we had a great server who explained what State Bird does, small plates, "in to fermentation", and small plates that augment the tray of food that comes around.
Oysters with sauerkraut, really delicious, garlic bread with briotta, mushrooms with eggplant and of course fried quail. Really good, really satisfying, really unique. Well worth all of it.
Don't expect the usual, expect the unexpected at State Bird Provisions.
