“Tomato soup on a sourdough bread bowl. Yummy!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

My Family and I made a quick stop at the Boudin Factory while visiting Pier 29 in San Francisco. We were very happy we did, the soup (as I have grown to expect from them) was delicious but we were pleasantly surprised to find Pizzas and Flatbreads on the menu, which my children loved..! They immediately became fans. The prices are moderate (not fast food, but not expensive by any means) and the portions are quite generous.
The restaurant was a bit busy, but the lines move very quickly and the location is perfect, within walking distance of the pier and other famous San Francisco attractions. The restaurant also offers the added bonus of a tour of the bakery where you can learn about how their famous bread is made..!

“The better place to eat amongst the touristy attractions”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

Face it. San Fran is a popular tourist place-- especially in the Pier area. We can say we are not tourists, but we take friends and family to get a bite there every time. Boudin is one of our favorites. Downstairs is the bakery counter and take out counter while upstairs is seated and with your purchase you can tour the "museum" behind the famous bred. It is one of the best sourdough out there. The crust and consistency is what sells the brand. We went there 2x within a month. On Father's Day, hubby got the crab legs, while the kids went for the clam chowder in the bread bowl-- which my teen son at the entire thing. It's not cheap, but it's part of the San Fran experience. We did not have reservation, but the waits were not that long. But reservation is recommended for the upstairs.

The place has a great view of the ships coming in/out of the dock.

“Loved it”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2013

Wife and I had the grilled cheese, one with ham, one without. Both were top notch. Kids had the pizzas and those were good as well. Quick service, decent prices. Overall a solid experience.

Might put some heaters outside for those days when it is too crowded inside.

“We were excited to get in out of cold and have bread a clam chowder.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2013 via mobile

It was great to walk in and see all the action. But the chowder was not too good! We at Francisco's across the street the day before with beautiful ocean views great service and great clam chowder in a bread bowl for about the same price:)I would not eat the chowder at boudin again:(

“Best Soup Bowls”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2013

This seemed to a better value than there main restaurant which is a 5 minute walk away. My daughter had here chili in the bread bowl. I had the tomato soup in the sourdough bowl. We both enjoyed out food, we wish we had more to take back to the hotel.
