The decor is like the set of a movie. Even the uniforms are traditional outfits which adds the charm.
The service is wonderful. The girl at the ice cream bar was super patient with our questions and let us have a lot of samples without being stingy. She was also very helpful on the phone. I wish I knew her name!
The soda jerk behind the counter, Adam, was also very helpful. We sat at the counter and so got to talk to him more.
The floats and shakes are delicious and freshly made. The cherry coke and orange-cicle type drinks were complex and delicious. Surprisingly, I didn't really like the root beer float that much even though that's why I went - because of the amazing reviews here on TripAdvisor. I am a root beer afficionada, and found it lacking in complexity, mainly because of the ice cream. The quality is not that great, especially when compared to somewhere like McConnell's in Santa Barbara. The texture is somewhat gummy and lacking in proper mouth feel. Also, the flavors are quite artificial seeming.
The shakes and drinks, however, are fresh, most likely because they make these from scratch.
A little on the pricey side and seating -- as well as parking -- can be a bit of a challenge.
