A friend of ours that is a bartender at Chinatown's Li Po cocktail lounge suggested we try Z & Y restaurant. She said the chef flies to China to buy his spices and that they are different then anyone elses. We were a party of 8 on a Saturday night. We had to wait about 45 minutes for a table. We were the only non-locals in the place. You have to stay on top of the hostess, or she may pass you buy on the wait list. But it was well worth it. We all tried a different dish. The large table had a lazy susan, so we could all spin the dishes and try one another's. Everything was fabulous! A real departure from the basic chicken chow mein. It's not a huge place - and it was fun to shop the surroundings stores while waiting for our table.
