The food is very good except for the hush puppies which are plain and doughy. Tried the fried chicken, and po'boy shrimp. The complimentary cheese spread and crackers were delicious and filling. Food servings were good; could not finish the fried chicken but was offered a "to go box" which was perfect. Will share a sandwhich next time and leave room for dessert. Excellent beer selection. Sit at the counter if you do not have a reservation-great view of the entire restaurant or of cooks depending on where you sit.

The food looked great on the menu and smelled wonderful. We tried quite a few things, but only a couple lived up to the anticipation. The chicken and sausage gumbo was rich and flavorful and the beignets were good. Not so good, the hush puppies, which were very doughy, like they had mixed flour in the cornbread. The catfish po boy was ok. They did have Dixie beer for those southerners missing the stuff.

We visited for Sunday brunch, which was a little disappointing as they do not serve their full menu. The food was well-prepared and flavourful, though the selection was limited. Service was slow and the waiter who started our meal wasn't the one who finished our meal. The decor is simple and southern, with a lot of unvarnished pine. It is not terribly comfortable, but clean and well-kept.

I would have given the restaurant a better rating had we visited for dinner I am sure.

Good place for dinner before the Symphony. Everything we had was good. Cajun frito misto with alligator, frog legs, and okra was good, but legs were tiny. Boudin balls were excellent. I had shrimp and okra stew. They offer a small and large bowl That's a great option. The small bowl is plenty big if you want to sample some of the appetizer, and maybe the desserts. I had the berry trifle which was delicious. The fried chicken was incredibly crispy, even smothered in gravy; so good.

We went for brunch about a month after they opened I guess, and it was good, but they have really got their act together now.
