Located in a small set-up in Hayes Valley, Smitten Ice Cream was the perfect treat after a long bike tour in the sun! What I particularly like about this ice cream was not the nitrogen processing, but how you could taste the bursting freshness of the flavours. We tried out the mint, and the blood orange with pistachio shortbread, and both flavours had such a freshness that you do not usually find in ice cream. The mint was from real mint leaves, no artificial mint extract. The fresh blood orange flavour was delicately sweet and zesty, and the pistachio shortbread lent a nice crunch. After a few bites, my palate was satiated. Because of the make-to-order process, the wait was a little longer than expected, but do try if you are in the neighbourhood or an ice cream fiend!
