It is a nice hotel just off the beaten pass. Real friendly employees and a pleasure to stay in.

I presented myself at the Inn At The Opera for one night after almost 24 hours' traveling from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I'd requested an early check-in. The room was ready and the ebullient manager scrounged some coffee and fruit for me from the remains of breakfast. I felt immediately welcome and at home. After a nap and a shower, I was ready for a little California sunshine. I asked the front desk how to use the bus to get to the DeYoung Museum in Golden Gate Park and was offered the remains of a 7-day bus pass left by a considerate guest upon check-out. There is a nice-looking restaurant on-site which I didn't have time to try. The hotel offers a fine location for getting around and goes out of its way to keep your stay stress-free. Oh, and a few blocks away, you will find the sublime artisanal chocolate of Christopher Elbow. For medicinal purposes, of course. I will return.

The hotel staff did everything they could to make our stay more enjoyable - they all definitely went "above and beyond!" We stayed a week, enjoyed the wonderful complimentary breakfast, appreciated the excellent location within walking distance of public transportation, enjoyed daily housekeeping service, and really liked having a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker in our suite. I have already recommended the Inn at the Opera to my friends and family, and will stay here again when we return to San Francisco.

Room Tip: We stayed on the Fifth floor - opened our window for the week and heard very little street traffric...

This little hotel is ideally located - just steps away from the opera, ballet and symphony. It has an old world charm, the staff couldn't have been more gracious. There is a restaurant inside for dinner and complimentary breakfast. Valet parking solved the car problem. I would definitely stay here again when attending an evening performance.

We stayed 3 nights (Room 78 - a ballet suite). The Inn itself is very charming, decor is musically themed with instruments and art work in the lobby and common areas. I particularly loved the old fashioned elevator lined in red velvet, with a door to open before you get in, piped classical music to enjoy the ride. Our room was very comfortable and clean and efficient use of a small space. Fridge and microwave with a small sink and utensils available. Flat screen TV with good reception, not much choice of channels but we didn't travel to watch TV so that was fine. Bed was extremely comfortable, overhead fan. With the window open the breeze was very pleasant, street noises could be distracting if you're a light sleeper. Turndown service each evening and chocolates on the pilllow. No ice machine on the floor, but just buzz down to the front desk and they are very efficient and quick. All the staff we dealt with were extremely helpful and very pleasant. I'm an early riser so was down in the lobby reading before 5am so as not to disturb my husband -- night staff brought me coffee (without asking). I can't recall all the names to give kudos to, but Jessie on the night shift and Alex on the day shift stand out. Complimentary breakfast was very good -- juice, coffee, cereal, muffins, bagels, cream cheese, fresh fruit and hard boiled eggs. Service in the restaurant was excellent as well. We ate dinner there one night, the service was great, on the night we went they were out of beef having sold out the hotel the night before and it was a Sunday so our choices were somewhat limited. We had salmon and pork chops between my husband and I. Not overly impressed with the seasoning of the food, for the price ($200 with a bottole of wine) we had expected better. Again, however the service was great. Lots of nearby places to eat, very convenient for transport. We got a 2 day pass on the Hop On Hop Off double decker bus and saw all the sights we wanted to, it stops all over the city, Golden Gate Bridge, the wharf, ChinaTown and they run by every 15 - 20 minutes, a great way to see all the sights. The hotel was an extremely pleasant place to return to after the hustle and bustle of the city, peaceful and quiet. Not sure that I would take kids along to this hotel, especially if they're energetic. We did see several couples with infants. We would definitely stay here again.....service was impeccable from all.

Clean efficient, a bit of faded opulence. I'll continue to use Hotel every time when working in the area of SFO. But if you want sleek, modernist, this isn't your cup of tea. Also, has great bar for before or after performances in the area. I give four stars for good, simple accommodations in the "Performance" neighborhood of SFO.
