This is a great hotel option for an affordable, clean, and convenient place. We had a single bedroom with a queen size bed. The room was on the smaller side, but I never felt like we were looking for space in the room. There was plenty for two of us. The room was cleaned while we were out for the day and the bathroom was replenished with towels. The hotel had free wifi with a good signal and a garage parking. My favorite part was the convenient location. We could walk or bus easily throughout the city, and found ourselves only about a 15 minute stroll from anywhere worth visiting. I wouldn't play the continental breakfast into factor as that was the only thing that was lacking. They provided coffee, fruit, and some small pastries, but we opted to walk a block up into North Beach and find some great cafes for reasonably priced breakfasts. I highly recommend staying here for a long weekend or even a week! It was the perfect spot for weekend spent touring the city.

We stayed here on our first night in san francisco. There was a huge conference on in San Fran and rooms were limited in the area. The location is good, fairly central and we walked down to pier 39 from here at night and went up to chinatown etc during the day so worked perfectly. Rooms are small, and quite old, and basically did what we needed but i wouldn't stay for more than 1 night. Breakfast really isn't good....served outside a conference room type area and food choice not great and quality very average. It felt like the hotel was geared to take tours a lot. They did have secure underground parking which was good

This is a great value hotel in a great location. Union sq, Fishermans Wharf and all major sights are within 1 miles walk which is superb.
Staff friendly and the hotel is clean with good sized rooms.
Breakfast is just toast and croissants etc, but thats all we wanted anyway.
If you want a good value for money hotel without going furthet out of San Francisco this place is ideal.

The location on Broadway, just steps away from financial district and the ferry building was brilliant. It's right on the edge of Italian and Chinese neighborhoods - that was the reason why I chose to stay at this place for a night during my week long vacation in SF. It was just 2-3 buildings away from a number of strip clubs, but the area felt very safe even at 2 AM in the night. The staff during check-in and check-out were genuinely helpful and friendly ensuring their best effort to make the stay comfortable. The room was on the smaller side (fine for SF), but was spotless, and well equipped. Definitely great value for money for the price in an otherwise super costly San Francisco! The free WiFi was super fast without any connection drops. Lots of great restaurants/bars steps away from the hotel.

For this price and location in San Francisco, not too many big problems, but, : The TV only had 1 channel (some sports channel), the shower was really small, and my room had the view of a wall which felt a bit depressing to look at in the night - but really none of these were major gripes considering the positives of the place and the price in SF.

Service was very friendly, my room was more than acceptable clean and an excellent location for exploring sf. Don't mind the stripjoints on the next block it is typical that the neighborhood / culture can change from block to block, in overal it's a safe area due to the many tourists even late at night. Many good restaurants in little italy and the most touristic areas can be reached on foot. If you're not looking for top luxury / dollar hotels then this is the place.

We were looking for a decently-priced, well-reviewed hotel on Tripadvisor and this is how we found SW Hotel. The hotel is nice, comfy, ticks the boxes for a mid-range budget. It's in an interesting spot – in Chinatown and, around the corner, is the City of Lights bookstore. There's also a cool lighting installation of "flying books" near the intersection, too. We didn't really realise it was close to all these adult clubs, but we just took that to be "colourful" - it didn't feel dangerous. It's also really close to Coi, a great, highly acclaimed restaurant. So, we were pretty happy with our stay.

The location would have been great -- in Chinatown not far from North Beach, the wharf, and the financial district, but street noise is a problem unless you want to do karaoke with the bar across the street until 1am. Also, we didn't mind the x-rated places a block away but some people might. The room was basic & clean, the breakfast not so great. They have no pool but I ca't uncheck this.

Room Tip: Ask for room away from the street.
