“Superb Luxury Hotel”
Reviewed September 12, 2010

First stop on our 14 day tour of Napa / Sonoma. What a great hotel. The first thing that hits you is that everyone is SO friendly! These people seem genuinely happy to see you and do whatever they can to make your stay the best. I have stayed in luxury hotels all over the world and have to say these folks take the gold star for friendliness.

Our room was everything you expect in a luxury hotel - nice high ceilings, very clean, nice sized bathroom with marble and such, soft white bath towels and all the amenities. Even a sewing kit. Even though we faced California street the hotel was ultra quiet, with a great bed and therefore excellent sleeping quarters. No hint that you had neighbors at all !!

Inside Tip - join the Omni member thing and you automatically get free coffee and other drink (OJ or AJ) delivered to your room every morning - really cool !! Also, you can buy the 3 or 5 day MUNI passes right at the hotel - what could be better. I don't know.

Oh yea - great location, this has it. You are probably 10-15 min walk from Union Square, and of course being on California there is a cable car that run right in front of the hotel.

I would not hesitate to go back or recommend to anyone. Great hotel, great people, great stay. And I am a Fairmont President Club member!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. We had registed for their "Select Guest" program, which is complimentary. I would strongly advise anyone who plans to stay at any Omni to do so. With that, we got free wi-fi as well as two free drinks delivered to our room every morning of our stay at our chosen time. There are also other benefits. At check in, the lady at the front desk was very friendly and courteous. It is centrally located. We even got a "stay two nights, get the third night free" from their website so it was quite the bargain! The rooms were very comfortable, there was a fruit bowl in the lobby for us to help ourselves daily. There is also a free city walking tour that starts from the hotel on certain days. We rented a car one day and parking (as with all of San Fran) is quite expensive (Omni was $45 for valet, no self park option) so we parked a 5 minute walk away for less...check around if possible. I have already recommended this hotel to my friends going in October.

We recently stayed 3 nights at the Omni and were very pleased with our choice. Check-in was welcoming, all staff very friendly/helpful. While location is in Financial District, we found walking or taking public transportation to and from locations easy. Easy walk to Embarcadero, Chinatown and North Beach. Cable car stop out front. Bed was very comfortable with nice linens. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

I stayed here at the beginning of August 2010 with my wife and 28yr son.We had just flew in from England after a total 20 hr journey. We took the Bart rail system from the airport which stops 3 blocks away and walked to the hotel with our cases which only took a few minutes. On arrival we were tired with the long journey and there was a hiccup with our room as we had booked our room through Hotels.com. I had booked a room with 2 double beds some months earlier . We were told straightaway on arrival at the hotel that when you make such a booking through the internet the spec.of the room cannot be guaranteed. We were shown to a room with just one king bed in and were told a fold away bed would have to be added for my son which we weren't happy about. This was going to be a 4 night stay. The desk manager quickly found a double bed room for us which needed cleaning and were given a complimentary drink in the bar while the room was being cleaned. I tipped the bell hop Marlin to take our bags to the room for us while we were having our drink but after 3 hrs the bags never arrived. I went back downstairs to find Marlin had gone home without delivering my bags and his relief had to deliver my bags without any further tip being given which I felt awkward about but I didn't see why I should have to tip again.
After this our stay was problem free and we found this hotel was placed fantasticaly to tour the surrounding area. The trams on Knob Hill are just outside the hotel, Chinatown just a couple of streets away and the fishermans wharf areas are a nice 10 minute stroll away.
The hotel itself tends to be occupied by well dressed business type people and at times I felt a bit out of place dressed in shorts/"t" shirt . This hotel is sitauted in the Banking district with very tall high rise office blocks nearby.
Fresh fruit and a drinks urn containing water with lemons in were available every evening next to the lift. Free wi=fi is available in the reception area.
The hotel is spotlessly clean and cannot be faulted.
San Francisco was found to be cold most times with the cold Pacific breeze from the sea and we had to wear light fleeces most of the time which I didn't expect in August.
We done the normal Alcatraz tour and city bus tour which is a must do.
We walked all around the area and despite the high number of homeless tramps in the town we felt safe. Having said that a German female tourist celebrating her silver wedding was accidently shot dead a couple of blocks away as the result of being caught in crossfire from some youths who had fallen out at a nearby disco ! This made us cautious but appears to have been a one off incident.
But after our 4 day stay we moved onto Las Vegas and then onto New York.
The Hotel Omni turned out to be a really good hotel and if I ever return to San Fran I would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel.

The Omni, San Francisco was the first stop on our honeymoon and after our 11 hour flight to San Francisco it was a joy to be able to check-in in less than 2 minutes. We had one of the Suites on the very top floor of the hotel and on arrival the hotel had left a bottle of champagne and strawberries as a gift for our honeymoon, nice touch! The hotel room was one of the largest we've ever been in with a sitting room (with desk, entertainment cabinet) which led to a large bedroom with a huge double bed and another entertainment cabinet.

Being on the top floor we didn't hear any traffic noise and we never heard a sound from the neighbouring rooms. As we had joined their loyalty program the internet was free and we had complimentary drinks delivered to our room each morning. You can also order croissants, muffins, etc with your morning drink which was a great start to the day.

We were in San Francisco for sightseeing and a lot of guide books etc tell you to choose between Fishermans Wharf or Union Square as a location for your stay. We're very glad we choose the Omni as we found both Fishermans Wharf and Union Square a bit busy and a bit too touristy. We enjoyed the peace and quiet from the location and everywhere was within easy walking distance from the hotel.

The Omni was a great start to our honeymooon, thanks Omni!

We stayed here for a 3 day weekend and had a lovely time. We got this fantastic suite that was very classy looking and had a lot of room. The front desk was always helpful and we asked the concierge some questions as well. We were in town for a baseball game and it is about a 15-20 minute walk to the stadium. It is right by Chinatown and also the Italian part of town. We walked one night to go to dinner and see Beach Blanket Babylon. We never did eat breakfast in the hotel, we went out to a couple of places I found on yelp.

Excellent staff. Scored a great deal on a room. We were needlessly concerned about location. Trolley stop at the hotel doorstep linked us to all. We would try to stay there on our next visit.
