We stayed there for two nights during the middle of September. I have never stayed in a hotel that had a such great staff. For example, when I was making the reservation, I sent them an email asking them for directions. I received a prompt reply and also some information on the local attractions. You could take this staff and put them in a cheap hotel next to the interstate and they would still make it a 5 star hotel.
There was one customer service issue that stood out. The staff reacted perfectly and was credit to the management of the hotel and chain.
We checked out on a Monday morning and left our bags there. That day, the Occupy protesters were nearby at the Bank of America building. When we came back at about 3 that afternoon, a large group of protesters were marching in front of the building. There were also a lot of police there too. The management of the hotel was out there, making sure that guests were not given grief by the protestors and also making sure that the guests could get into the hotel. This goes far beyond what was expected.
The hotel itself is an older hotel, but it has a lot of charm and class.
The hotel is pricey, however if you stay on either a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night and have a AAA card, you can get a great deal. For our two weekend nights it was about $260 per night.
The hotel is in the Financial District and there can be issues finding open stores and restaurants during the weekend. But you just have to know where to look. If you go a block south of the hotel, you will find a street called Belden Lane. There is a very good selection of restaurants in this alley. Additionally you can walk west several blocks and you will be in Chinatown.
One other tip about this hotel. Please make sure that you join their loyalty program. This gives you free wifi in your room and also gives you your choice of free beverages to be delivered to your room in the morning.
This is the second Omni that we have stayed in and we are looking forward to staying at other hotels in the chain.
