“Great place to stay near Moscone”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

Hi,

I stayed here for one night before attending an event at Moscone Center. My room was comfortable and clean (except for a few hairs in the bathroom). The free wifi worked well for me, and I was even able to watch some Amazon video in my room.

The restaurant breakfast, while pricey (now almost $20) was convenient and of good quality. You do have to wait if you want an omelet or breakfast burrito and they should fix that. I also tried the buffet eggs and they were excellent. REAL eggs, not that restaurant "egg" stuff that is purchased prewhipped. Also the sausage was very good.

The blow dryer in the room is good, 1600 watts. There was an iron but I didn't use it.

I did use the fitness center and it was fine, but small and some people came and left because they could not get a machine. The peak usage was at 6am. I was there at 5am and had no problem. Now that I have seen the neighborhood a bit, I think it would be ok for a man to go jogging after daybreak, but I'm not sure for a woman. I did see a woman jogging in the area later in the day.

I used the automated wake up call and must say, I really like those better than the human ones. Once in a while the human ones fail.

There is nice spa water in the lobby which I appreciated. The water in the room is $3.25 and in the vending machine slightly less. Free water is also available in the fitness center.

The Fly Trap across the street was handy for a light dinner. And BTW, there is a wine shop right across the street from the hotel in case you want to purchase a beverage or a snack. No 'fridge in the room though. I saw several people carrying Whole Foods bags, so that must not be far away either.

Parking is expensive, $54, but they are very nice about going and getting your car whenever you want it.

I was really impressed with the friendliness and cheeriness of the staff. They were so helpful, it made my trip better.

The walk to Moscone was easy as the weather was nice. If it were raining, I think I would take a cab. It's not that far but it's not just next door.

Like many Courtyards, the sink is outside the bathroom, which would be nice if two people are sharing a room.

Room Tip: I had an end unit (1101) and I could take the stairs. It was also very quiet. Gym is on the 2nd fl...

This hotel is fine, but it's priced like it's a 4 star property. The hotel just feels cheap, i.e. uncomfortable beds, cheap bedding, thin towels, etc.. Exercise room was tiny and the only two treadmills were broken. If the price was more reasonable, the rating would go up but I have stayed at the Renaissance Nob Hill for a lower price than the Courtyard.

If you are going to a ball game or working South of Market, the location is great.

One BIG plus is my room was quiet which is unusual in a large hotel. Not sure if the walls were thicker or because I was down at the end of the hall but surprisingly quiet.

Thanks so much for taking the time to review our hotel. My apologies for the out of order equipment in the exercise room. Please be assured this has been resolved. I also wanted to make your aware that we will be renovating and increasing the size of our exercise room before the end of this year. During the renovation we will be replacing all of the exisiting cardio equipment with new machines. I hope you have the opportunity to visit again and see our improvements! Thanks, again, for your helpful feedback!

Clean, quiet, attentive staff, available pool, exercise center, free wifi, restaurant & bar. Great that it is easy walking distance to Moscone Center, Chinatown, and many good restaurants, as well as easy access to highway. However: expensive restaurant for breakfast, expensive parking, closet with difficult access, no place to hang anything (like hand washed items) other than the closet. Expensive, but so are most downtown San Francisco hotels.

Room Tip: look at the room first to see where the closet is.

What a nice surprise to find a Courtyard with a nice lobby bar and is a highrise. Very reasonable walk to the convention center. A step above a standard Courtyard. Close to the ballpark. Sophisticated lobby bar with comfy chairs, reasonable wine list.

This hotel is fine but as others have said could use a little TLC. But it is clean and the front desk staff is very nice. Good walking distance to Moscone and baseball stadium though it is a bit off the beaten path (a few blocks) off the tourist attractions. That makes it nice a quiet! Indoor pool was not heated when I took morning swim. All in all, a good choice if you need a convention hotel.

Stayed here for 4 nights for a conference at Moscone Center. The hotel is easily within walking distance. I actually prefer the location than some of the closer hotels that surround the Union Square area. There is a ton of tourists there and its definitely quieter where the Courtyard is located. The hotel room itself is pretty drab. It looks like it could use an update pretty soon but the room is fairly spacious and not dirty. The hotel has a Starbucks conveniently located on the 1st floor along with a breakfast area and bar. I would definitely consider this hotel again for business travel in San Francisco.

I stayed here for 6 days during a conference. The WiFi was free, fast and very stable which was a real plus for us as it made life very easy. The service was carried out daily to a good standard. All personnel were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good and tasty. All and all I thought it was a very good deal. I would go back again.
