Great location, friendly staff and really nice beds & bedding (yes, the pillows were a plus.) As other viewers mentioned, the lift is really slow. I mainly used the stairs since we were on level three. Front rooms had a nice view but if you had the window open it was a little noisy. Double glazing cut that down to sleep but if you like fresh air you're in a fix. We had a nice picture of Alcatraz on the wall so they have been adding things to build ambiance. We found a great coffee shop on Polk street to people watch and get to know the locals. Loved San Francisco and this was a good place to stay.

Room Tip: Third floor bridge view or inner room at back looking over the pool. The outer back rooms look over a parking lot...not so nice.

Stayed at the da Vinci Villa during Pride weekend. It's our first time here because the city was packed. They did not disappoint us! Front desk staff were very helpful and attentive. They offer free continental breakfast. Nothing fancy but enough for something free. Young male breakfast server was very accomodating. The room we got was spacious, clean and the beds are comfortable. Will definitely recommend this hotel.

There have been many reviews on this hotel complaining about everything from the parking (it is an issue here) to the slowness of the elevators.
Much of this is true, but I have to say, I have NEVER had better customer service to deal with the issues. When we had a parking issue, Tammy was on it and took care of us right away. The room (junior suite) was big and very clean. It Is a little noisy, but I knew it would be, being on Van Ness ave.
Bottom line: These people work HARD to take care of any issues that arise, and I appreciate that very much. I received better customer service here than I have received in many "5 star" hotels.

Room Tip: The Golden Gate bridge view is on the Van Ness ave side of hotel and is noisy. May not be for everyone. One could reuest a room on the other side of the hotel, if noise is an issue. The windows block most of the noise, but also the breezes, and there is no a/c. It wasn't an issue for us in July, it was cool weather, but probably should check weather before you go.

Stayed here 2 nights. Is about a 15 min walk to Fishermans Wharf so convenient. Beds were comfy with a nice flatscreen TV but no frills like a small refridge or even pictures on the walls. Room could use a wall mirror or some other area outside of bathroom beacuse it's a small bathroom for 4 people. The biggest complaint was the very thin walls which made it noisy if your neighbors talked at all or if people were outside in the pool area. Pool was nicely heated and had a nice patio area. Hotel had a Free Continental Breakfast that was ok with fresh fruit, scones, muffins and the normal items and an ala carte menu if you wanted hot items.

Be prepared for the Parking Fee which is common for almost all hotels in the city(theirs is actually cheaper than some others at $28.50 per day)

We stayed here for three nights and found the hotel met our needs and nothing more, which was perfectly fine for the price. They have done some major renovations although they could still do more. The beds were very comfortable. The location was great, walking distance from Fisherman's Wharf and the surrounding area. The hotel staff are nice and attentive, especially Bernard at Cafe Como, the hotel restaurant.
One negative comment we had was that the rooms are not sound-proof. We could hear whenever the TV was on in our neighbor's room and when their alarm went off every morning.
Other than that, the hotel was pretty good for the price. If you're lucky you can get a room on the top floor with a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good place to stay that isn't too fancy.

Room Tip: Ask if you can get a room on the top floor facing Golden Gate Bridge
