A must for "Vertigo" fans -- interesting slice of California history as well. The cemetery tells many an interesting tale of life during and after the Gold Rush. Easily accessible via the "F" line and a great starting point for exploring the Mission district.

“What a gorgeous place”

Absolutely stunning building from the Spanish Mission to San Francisco. The Basilica was absolutely beautiful and was worth the $5 entry alone. However, they also have a small museum, a chapel and several diaramas - they seem very keen on their diaramas (!), but having walked through the mission district to see the Basilica, it is a bit magical to see how it would have looked when the building stood alone in the countryside. Lots of information about the Mission, and original discovery of SF and Aboriginal peoples living there. Far, far more beautiful and interesting than the (pretty mediocre) Grace Cathedral. Definitely go here instead.

Nice historical stop that is a part of original spanish San Francisco located in the sunny Mission District and Mission Street (Original highway 101 also known as El Camino Real) which were both named after the most important attraction this mission.

“Nice old mission”

This is one of the oldest structures in San Francisco, having survived the 1906 quake. They have a small tour that includes the old chapel and a newer portion.
