You will hear the road and people in the corridor and other rooms. If this doesn't bother you, go ahead and stay. Room was nice and clean, comfy bed and decent shower, nothing special but quite acceptable. Door didn't really shut properly (it locked but left a gap at the bottom) meaning you could hear the corridor clearly. The city centre location was ideal; very close to many amenities and transport links. Parking cost $40 a night.

Stayed for 3 nights for business. Pros: Bed was very comfortable. Good products in the bathroom. Great location. Wifi worked well.

Cons: Hotel overall needs a makeover. Rooms had heavy dust on the windows. Windows did not lock all the way. Doors were flimsy and I felt could be opened at anytime without a key.

Was a fine stay for the time I was there (mainly to sleep). Would go back for business only because it is close to the office.

The best thing about this hotel was without a doubt, the location! It is situated next to the Westfield shopping centre which has everything you need and is quite nice to walk through if you don't need/want anything. It is also close to Union Square, China Town and is a pick up for the City Sightseeing Bus Tour, what more could you want?

The hotel itself was fine, we were upgraded on arrival as they were overbooked. The room was perfectly acceptable, very clean and bathroom seemed quite new. The toiletries were good, TV worked fine. We didn't like coffee machine as we are Scottish haha and we like tea! We never asked but I suppose the hotel would oblige! There was a good wee café next to hotel for breakfast and drinks etc anyway! We only tried the restaurant for drink and it was fine, staff friendly and obliging! The only problem was the room was very noisy, air conditioning and constant sirens which you do expect in a city centre hotel, take ear plugs and make the most of it!

Room Tip: Ask to be as far away as possible from air con!

The Pickwick is in a great location in SoMA and is particularly convenient if you are attending an event at Moscone - it's about 1-2 blocks, depending on which Moscone building is your destination. The staff are friendly and I've never had any noise or other issues while staying at the hotel.

With that said, this is a older hotel, and it shows in multiple ways: the rooms are somewhat small, the bathrooms can be a tight fit, there are sometimes minor issues with the plumbing, the furnishings are dated, and it feels a bit worn down. As long as you have the appropriate expectations, I think you should be fine. Just don't expect luxury or even a modern business hotel, and you will have a good stay. On a positive note, if you are serious about staying in shape, there is a small fitness center that is open 24 hours a day. It's basic (some free weights, benches, yoga mats, 2 treadmills, a bicycle, and an elliptical, if memory serves) but can still give you a solid workout.

Picked this because of the reasonable rates and location close to a conference I was attending at the Marriott Marquis one block away.

The room was spacious enough for a big city hotel, and the hotel was well maintained if charmless.

Receptionists were somewhat cold, but you get that sometimes in high traffic tourist areas.

I might stay here again for convenience and price, and if I'm travelling alone. If it's a proper vacation, I'd probably try to get a good deal on a boutique hotel on Hotwire.
