“Friendly staff, but need updating”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2013

We had some issues with our flight that were out of our control, so we called ahead to let the hotel know about the situation. They were helpful and checked us in the night before our actual arrival, without charging us for the night. Everyone at the hotel were very friendly and helpful.
The building itself is centrally located in the South of Market district and very convenient to walk to a lot of places including the SFMoMA and the Metreon. Even with the busy street outside of our window, we did not hear outside noise at any point of our stay.
There were two areas that we feel need improvement: the bed and the shower. Our king bed was spacious, but it was too firm and we could not fall into deep sleep, which is unusual for us. We both woke up with aching necks. The shower took longer than expected (at least 5 minutes) to get hot water out of it. The shower head itself could have performed better too. Overall, we liked the hotel and would stay here again if the beds are comfortable.

When I arrived I had the pleasure to have Greg assist me. Greg went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. I will definitely stay here again just because of Greg. Louie went out of his way to get me a private car. Louie greeted me with a warm smile and was ready to take care of my travel needs. I enjoyed my trip to the fullest and made two friends. Looking forward to returning before April.

In SF for Nike Women's marathon. Booked thru Priceline.com when most other local hotels sold out. Good location, hotel OK, but parking difficult. Park next door at retail shopping center to skip hassle and save yourself $8/day.

I purchased this hotel by bidding $150 a night for a 2.5 star hotel SOMA area on priceline.com. I must admit I wasn't crazy about the pictures posted via tripadvisor but after arriving to the hotel I loved it. Yes the decor is very traditional and not typically my flavor but the staff was super cool (especially the lady that worked the nightshift), the rooms were large and the Wi-Fi worked great! Great location that is close to shopping, nightlife, and public transportation; also the hotel isn’t in the heart of the homeless as others in the SOMA area. My only complaint about the hotel would be the shower faucet was difficult to understand and it took quite a bit of time to get hot water to the room. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers and I will return as well on future SFO trips.

We recently spent several days at this hotel. We were delighted with it's location and found the accomodation comfortable and the staff very helpful. I would like to mention Louie Chan and his collegue Jackie in particular, their welcome on Reception and assistance were well above expectations.

Room Tip: Check for night time roadworks outside hotel

We were booked in here for three nights in October 2013. We were a bit taken back by the $40 per night parking fees until we checked out the hotel next door, which charged $60+. Turn right when you exit the hotel. Turn right again for Old Navy, Ambercrombie & Fitch, etc. Turn left for cable car island. Fare to Fisherman's Wharf (Pier 39 for eateries and Pier 33 for trips to Alcatraz) is $2. Rooms are adequate. Bathroom is tiny but functional. Overhead light is movement activated so don't get too frisky! Overall, we liked it. Great central location in San Francisco more than compensates for the minor grumbles.

During October 2013 we stayed in the Pickwick Hotel - its a great location right next to the biggest shopping center Westfield in San Francisco. Its a bit noisy, but the excellent Front Office staff Greg, Randy and Jackie were most friendly, efficient and helpful. Housekeeping was also very good. And free Internet at the Business Center was a major plus. Eduardo, the Concierge was most helpful on a number of occasions and his cheerful and 'can do' approach to guests is to be highly commended. The bar/bistro is dreary and could do with a major facelift. During conventions its rates are way over the star rating, but that is so of all hotels in this big convention city. On the whole, we enjoyed our six night stay.
