I really enjoyed Frisco Fred's combined comedy + magic show at the Alcove Theatre. The venue was cozy and informal --no one was seated more than 15 feet from stage -- making it ideally suited for audience participation.

The show was clean and family friendly, but Fred's humor drew laughs from everyone -- parents, grad students, and two giggly 5-year old girls. It was certainly a refreshing change from the last comedy show I went to, which relied on 4-letter words, gay jokes, and a two-drink minimum to get the point across.

Our family of 5 adults had a terrific time! Fred was lots of fun! The staff was great too. A good show for kids as well.

Hot off the train from Chicago we only had two days to get under the skin of this singular city. We stumbled across "Absolutely San Francisco" online and bought tickets whilst the stage was being set up for the evening performance. This is a hands on production and the performance matched our welcome from the company. The story is clever, and its several outcomes are only gradually revealed as the play progresses. The acting and singing is energetic and convincing. The audience was very responsive to the humour, anger and pathos that we experienced along the way. We left knowing a lot more about SF and very grateful for the quality wine from the al fresco bar..

From the kind, very pleasant staff, to the fantastic story and wonderful plot focus, I have to say that this is the best play I've ever seen. Not only were the topics of interest to me, they were right in-line with my own, real-life issues. It is safe to say that I identified with this performance, and that is truly rare! FANTASTIC! I highly recommend that everyone with the ability to fathom interesting concepts, and laugh at the unbelievable direction that our nation's morality is headed go see this! As a producer myself, not of plays but of music, I have an understanding of quality when it comes to creating something. ABSF has it down!

Sincerely, MightyBender (Ben Sandler - ThievesGuildRecords - and huge fan of Absolutely San Francisco!)

I'm a 3rd generation San Franciscan and really enjoyed everything about this play and the playhouse. Wine, videos, very energetic performance, extremely well written, some very catching songs that we couldn't stop singing for the next few days. A wonderful atmosphere to see a play. Very friendly. She brings the entire audience together for an enjoyable 100 minutes or so. Sunshine is a breath of sunshine. We highly recommend this for native San Franciscans or any tourist who wants to learn more about San Francisco and get a feeling for the people and history.

Hi Michael D,

Just thought we'd use your wonderful review as an opportunity to thank you and thank all the great people who have taken time out of their days to share their wonderful thoughts. Little theaters like ours really thrive on this electronic word-of-mouth, and it makes us very happy and proud to hear that our work has made a positive impression. That's what it's all about. Thanks a million to you all!
