“SOOOOO Noisy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2012

The hotel is in a great location and the rooms are pleasant albeit not large. But typical for San Francisco. The rooms are clean, the public spaces the same.

I got excellent customer service at the front desk in making arrangements for the fact that they did not have two bed rooms regardless of my reservation. I however received the noisiest room. It was behind the elevators which is bad but that coupled with the fact the doors to not reach the ground and are apparently constructed of paper- it was too much. A group of Asian tourists gathered outside my room at the crack of the morning and it sounded like they were shouting in my ear. I am a very heavy sleeper and was unable to sleep the noise was so bad. I truly have a hard time recommending this hotel on this basis. What is the point of a hotel if you wake up at whatever time some other crazy traveler decided to talk in the halls?

My wife, kids and I stayed here in July 2012 on a road trip from Seattle to LA. We had a fantastic experience with the Holiday Inn Express in Astoria, Oregon about a week earlier.

The location of this hotel is good, it is dead centre of the Fishermans Wharf area. Lot of attractions, restaurants, bars, tram stop, nice walks from the hotel.

The hotel itself was very tired and to be frank quite over priced. Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. But the building is in dire need of a make over.

I would stay there again, if the hotel had a face lift. The location is great, the brand is good, the staff were great but the building was tired.

In the Fishermans Wharf area which made it convenient to walking around and seeing the area. The rooms were smaller but clean with most of the typical HI Express accommodations. Breakfast area was nice and service was good. Beware! Overnight valet parking is $45!!! That is the norm for the area but not really published from what I could find until you show up. There are not a lot of other optim a so budget accordingly.

Stayed two nights Dec 5th and 6th/12 had a very comfortable room with a king size bed. Free hot breakfast, arrived around 11 am and they had a room ready for us. Walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Pier 35 (Cruise Ship). Was able to walk (2 of us) with luggage the 5 blocks from Pier 35 (cruise ship) to Hotel with no problems. Desk arranged a shuttle to airport which arrived at exact determined time. Would stay there again without hesitation.

The Pros:
Location: By far, the best part of this hotel. You won’t be able to see the Bay, but Fisherman’s Wharf is within convenient walking distance and so are several cable car stops

Free Breakfast: in a city like San Francisco, free breakfast is nothing to turn down. You can easily drop $30 a morning for breakfast for two in the cafes across the street.

The Staff: the workers could NOT be nicer - even the maids would stop to say hello to us in the hallway. One of the maintenance guys went seriously out of his way to help me deal with a suitcase malfunction.

Room Size: because I am a Priority Club Platinum member, they upgraded us to a suite for free and it was very large and spacious.

The Cons:
Décor: This hotel is OLD. While the lobby, hallways, and bathrooms are mostly up to date, the interior of the rooms are very worn. The carpet has seen better days, and the towels were almost see-through. They still had those big old CRT TVs!

Bed size: That wasn’t a queen. That was like a princess or something. Smallest queen ever.

Cleanliness: If you don’t turn the lights up bright, it’s clean. It’s when you start looking a little deeper you can tell the place hasn’t had a deep-cleaning in a LONG time. For example, there was some serious crud on top of the light switch in the bathroom, all kinds of crap under the couch – little things like that.

Conclusion:
I will probably stay here again just because I’m a Priority Club member and can’t beat the price, but I have to say, the Hyatt across the street was looking mighty tempting. I bet it has TVs from this decade.

Excellent location two blocks from Fisherman"s Wharf and walking distance to Ghiradelli Square, cable cars, many restaurants, drug store and the MUNI system. Nice rooms and clean. Free hot breakfast was good but not great. The quality of the food was just satisfactory, good coffee. Very busy hotel so be prepared for a lot of people and lines at breakfast no matter what time you get there. Breakfast served daily 6:30am-9:30am and when it's over, it's over. No coffee after 9:30am is a bit annoying. would stay again considering the great price and location compared to the competition in the area. Regular Holiday Inn is just two blocks away so be sure your transportation/shuttle drops you off at the right hotel. No refrigerator/microwave in room!

Nice, clean, friendly hotel. Our flight came in early and they were kind enough to let us check in at 11am since the room was available. Conveniently located within 2-3 blocks of Fisherman's Wharf, Ghiradelli Square, cable car lines, Wal-Greens, In-N-Out Burger, Trader Joes as well as the starting point for the MUNI F-Trolley and the #47 bus to Van Ness Avenue. We were there to watch a 49ers game . . . so convenient to hope on the #47, and get off at the Van Ness/California Avenue intersection to connect to the 77x Candlestick Park Express. On the way back, the Express stops at North Point so just a short walk back to the hotel. Free breakfast (although the eggs were kind of overcooked), free wired internet in the room and free wireless in the lobby. On the down side, TV was an older CRT box TV with no A/V inputs so I couldn't connect my iPod to it to watch movies. Parking is steep - valet only, $45 not including tax, but with in/out privileges. All in all would definitely stay here again.
