Description: Bread and Cocoa is a downtown San Francisco coffee shop specializing in delicious and nutritious coffee, meals, and snacks. Located in the Union Square-Financial District, it offers a healthy assortment of breakfast and lunch options filled with rich, organic ingredients for a guilt-free alternative for a sit down or meal on-the-go. Bread and Cocoa is an inviting oasis in the midst of the bustling bay-city with gluten-free, vegetarian, and a variety of other healthy food options. Our coffee is locally roasted and brewed to perfection. When paired with one of our artisan breakfast sandwiches made with home-baked bread and all-natural ingredients, it provides the extra pep in your step needed to get through the day in top form! Try our croissants, bagels, and frittata or one of our delectable a la carte menu options of fruit, oatmeal, granola and yogurt are a local hit, including our signature "Bread and Cocoa" multi-grain or baguette bread with a steaming cup of hot cocoa on the side (perfect for dipping!) Our lunch menu offers a fantastic variety of soups, salads, and sandwiches (including our toasted paninis) filled with fresh ingredients and in-house roasted meats. Our tomato soup paired with our Humboldt fog sandwich is a local favorite! Last (but certainly not least), Bread and Cocoa offers a selection of sweets and treats that we believe are just as healthy as they are delicious! We invite you to try one of our many homemade cookies, gluten-free pastries and tortes, and house-made chocolate ganache for a little guiltless indulgence. Whether on the go or enjoying a relaxing day across the bay, Bread and Cocoa is the perfect place to call your second home in the heart of downtown San Francisco. We hope to see you soon!

“Go Bread and Cocoa”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

I always make it a point to visit this café every time Im in San Francsico which is 3-4 times a year The best coffee (ask for an Americano in a large mug!) and you get real espresso, which is very different from disgusting Starbucks coffee
I always love the cookies - 2 for breakfast or a snack - and they are made with butter - and cheap! The café has outdoor seating which I find helpful for me because I can smoke on the kerb without breaking SFO smoking laws yet still take advantage of your coffee food and the free wifi
The staff are always extremely friendly and polite - I find this unusual in SFO and there is no confusion with my Aussie accent It is also a great location nearby are Giorgio Armani,Emporio Armani Loehmanns etc etc etc - its a perfect stop for a coffee and cake boost during a shopping trip
Go Bread and Cocoa - you sold me quite a few years ago!

“Good fresh quick food”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Great salads and sandwiches which you can eat in or grab on the go. Visited quite often during our three day visit, only issue we had was while waiting in line to order breakfast they came and took the menu out of my hand and said breakfast menu was over! Thought they could have given us the benefit of 30 seconds. However the food is nice and fresh and fast if needed.

“Great little cafe”

The menu is limited but the food is fantastic. The fresh veggie sandwich is fabulous. Try the sweet & savory lavender oatmeal cookie.

“Great Coffee and Quick Breakfast!”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

we ate breakfast here each morning of our 3 day san francisco trip. The latte's, hot chocolates and coffee drinks are excellent. They have a very good barista! Muffins and croissants are fresh and my children loved the oatmeal and toast in the morning. Great inexpensive place to have breakfast in the heart of San Francsico.

“Nice and quick if you are staying nearby!”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

We dropped in one morning during our vacation to just pick up something quickly so we could keep walking and the pasteries were good. Nothing unbelievable but good and not super expensive which is good. We only tried breakfast but their sandwiches for lunch sound good!
