Got the best pictures and spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge (soaring above the fogs) and the San Francisco skyline (that too rising above the thick fog layer). So fog can be your friend for some breathtaking views of the various bridges and the skyline.

Took the 5-mile Perimeter Rd, stroller-friendly hike along the outer edge of the island.

Visited Angel Islands twice now (Nov-Feb months). It's a very relaxing place to hike without being elbowed or crowded out (except on the ferry from Tiburon to the islands). The round trip ferry was $50 for a family of four(pre-teens) - a bit of a costly day.

Pack your own food and drinks and make a picnic out of it. They even have lockers for a $1 to park your food while you hike.

You can't get lost, only one road around the island. Helmets/bikes available for rent or you can bring your own on the ferry. Bring water and a good bike lock that is long enough for your two or more bikes, as you will want to lock them at top of driveway and walk down to the beach and museum after you are halfway round the island. (See other reviews regarding the museum/hours.) There is one steep hill and you will want to get off your bike to walk it. Enjoy your day.

We had to take a ferry from SF and rented stand up scooters to putz around the island. A bit of a costly day - parking fee, ferry ride, scooter rental, but we did bring our own picnic which eased the cost. The venue is the PERFECT place to view the Blue Angels and the SF skyline, which is worth the trip alone. The actual tour of the island was interesting but extremely depressing since it was the 'interim' holding location for immigrants from china during the gold rush and learning the number of people that were held in tiny barracks for years. Overall a must do at least once in a lifetime but they could improve by offering more eateries for food/drinks.

It was our first time on a Segway, and since one of our party was unable to hike or bike, this was a perfect way to see the whole island. We had great weather, and it was a lovely trip (2 hrs). The segways were easy to ride. We recommend it.

This island has several attractions that are worth speding an entire day for. The Tiburon Ferry departs hourly on weekends for much of the year for this nearby island. Once there our large group took a somewhat leisurely walk around the perimeter road--about 5 miles of up and down walking. This road has spectacular views of San Francisco Bay on every side. The free maps are well annotated with notes that describe landmarks that figured promenently in this region's history, including the "Ellis Island of the West" where mostly Chinese immigrants gained access (or not) to the U.S. The old immigration center is open on certain days and the day we visited, volunteers were on hand to interpret the various historical artifacts found there. The past presence of the military is quite evident all over the island. Be sure to bring sturdy shoes if you plan to walk or hike to the higher elevations (less than 1000 feet). Plenty of visitors bring or rent bicycles and there are a few Segways to rent, although we didn't see any. Overall we had a grand day and hated having to leave at the end of the day (although overnight camping is available, too).
