Angel Island is a gem in the Bay. It is best seen by bike, which can be taken on the ferry. This is the 'Ellis Island' of the west - be sure to learn about the interesting history of the island.

History breathes on the backside of Angel with the buildings resonating a story you have to sit, be quiet and listen to as the waves wash over you.

This is a diamond in the beautifal golden gate jewel of a bay! We took a ferry here and then rode bikes (caution steep hills - not for beginners). 360 views are fantastic from the top of the island! It looks like you can camp here with a permit - next time we come we will be doing that!

Visiting this small island will give one a glimpse of natural growths of local plants as well as historical perspectives of the people who came and formed the fabric of the local area. Be sure to take a full day to enjoy the full benefits of your visit.

Challenging bike ride or walk with hills and flat areas. Great history of what the facilities were used for - departing troops for WWII to the Pacific Theatre, etc. Beautiful views of surrounding cities in the Bay Area provided there is no fog! We went in June and it was always lingering outside the Golden Gate. Highly recommend. Allow plenty of time to complete the island and don't wait for the last ferry. The next to last was quite full and there was a huge line of people waiting for the last one.
