While San Francisco is a food destination, there is a dearth of Jewish Delis serving the N Y favorites : Pastrami, Corned Beef, etc. It is therefore no surprise that the DELI BOARD, with its amazing sandwich menu has become a very popular south-of-Market St. deli mecca. The $ 13. sandwiches are worth the price and scream authentic New Yoooork ! Despite the owner's allegiance to Cleveland. Each sandwich is delivered with free condiments : huge pickles, slaw, onions, etc.
The atmosphere is hi-energy, with a dose of Motown music, for a vintage background. Service is fast, but very casual : lunch is delivered in deli-paper, no plates. To miss the daily lines, avoid visiting between 11:45 and 13:00 ; they close daily at 16:00. Free, one hour parking can easily be found within 50 yards of this delicious deli. Enjoy !
