“Worth the stars”

We loved everything about Atelier Crenn. The decor was nice, the food was surprising and flavorful and the staff was attentive and smiling. The plates are little works of art. We ate with all our senses

“Gourmet picnic through a forest”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2013

Conceptually, Chef Crenn has brought to life an ingenious concept: a play onto the authenticity and organics of nature and all she has to offer. The exterior of the restaurant is obscure, once inside, simple settings with warm lighting make the dining room seem a little less luxurious. However, from the menu, the interpretation and translation into the food is creative, unique for the SF area and utilizes many molecular gastronomy 101s. Of the 14 courses, we enjoyed 9-10 immensely. Whilst portions are small (even for fine dining) , each plate was interconnected to the next and the plating allows a glimpse into the quirks of the celebrated chef. Chef Crenn certainly has earned her stars and stripes.

“A unique dining experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2013

Dining here is a fantastic event if you are open to new and different experiences. It is Like dining in someone’s home. There is no printed menu. There is only one choice each evening and you really don’t know what you will be eating until you get there, but dietary restrictions can be accommodated. You will see a printed poem which gives hints of what you will be having. There are 8 to 12 courses depending on the number of amuse bouchees. The servers provide a meticulous explanation of each course, the ingredients, how they go together etc. The chef/owner, Dominique Crenn, emerges periodically to talk to diners and to discuss the food. She will show you through the kitchen if you like. The food preparations are exquisite and many dishes are unique. The ambiance refined and classy as is the décor. There is and exceptional wine list and the Sommelier does a great job of matching the wine to the food and the diner’s expressed likes and dislikes. This experience is expensive, but well worth it and will provide many great memories.

Atelier Crenn has excellent, innovative food along with the most extraordinary and artistic presentation. The wine pairings are also very well done. It is well worth the money for a special occasion.
