We had the pleasure of enjoying the Sunday evening only four course prix fixe dinner at this delightful restuarant in downtown San Francisco. Seated in the bar area facing the wood burning oven we were able to enjoy the skill of the chefs preparing the tasty inventive, mouth-watering food. Each course was offered with wine pairings which perfectly complemented the food. The servers were enthusiastic & knowledgable enhancing the dining experience. Great value for money. We will return!

Well worth the wait we had, so reservations are suggested. Small out of the way Italian restaurant that not only had some of the best food we had during our 7 night vacation but the least expensive as well with no wine over $40 a bottle. This is not cheap wannabe place. It is owned and next to its parent the well heeled Quince's. If you are tired of spending a fortune and want to feel like you are eating in native SF place then Cotogna is where to go!

Our table enjoyed a sublime tomato soup with fried basil, braised pole beans, and squash blossoms with ricotta and zucchini. Order any of the eggs in the personal skillets. We were treated to a sumptuous stack of bomboloni with ricotta, blueberries and limoncello sauce -- and ate every bite even though we were stuffed. Service is friendly and unobtrusive and knowledgeable. Best spot is a seat by the open kitchen, where the pizzas and grilled dishes are prepared. Lovely neighborhood with art galleries and an easy walk to the Embarcadero. From the Italian wood burning oven to the edible flowers garnishing the bloody Marys to the minimalist Heath ceramics, I applaud Cotogna's every decision.

This weekend, we enjoyed a wonderful brunch at Cotogna. Reservations are recommended because the restaurent was full during our visit. The decor was simple and elegant. The food was well prepared and flavorful. We shared and enjoyed everything we ordered. Service was friendly and well timed. We had very nice experience.

A foodie friend of mine that i often eat with was told to try this place out. They enjoyed it so much that they got me and a few other friends to go the next day. I Ate here just before my flight and it made my day. I think we had a 2 o clock reservation. They received us well and we filled up the community table. I think maybe the squash blossom were the highlight for me. There were ground cherry tomatoes on the plate and they were simply amazing.
I had enjoyed better quality dishes of similar value at other places, but it wasnt very far off. it is Somewhat generous in servings in some ways. I wouldnt likely go here for dinner but the Lunch was a great surprise and i look forward to going back.
