When we travel, my family rarely returns to the same restaurant especially in a city like San Francisco that offers so many choices for fine dining. Pera was the exception to this rule. We had to go back. Okay, I made them go back because the entree my husband had the first go around was so delicious (from the small bite he shared with me) that I had to have it myself.
The first night we dined outside and enjoyed the cool San Francisco evening in the lovely neighborhood of Potrero. We shared the Pera Meze Platter that offered us a tasteful sampling of their appetizers. The Pera Talas Boregi entree, however, was the one that made us return for another evening of delicious Turkish food. Smoked chicken wrapped in phillo dough baked and served in a coconut curry sauce. Though not terribly hungry the second night, my husband enjoyed the fried calamari appetizer and left not a single one on his plate.
The wait staff were pleasant, efficient and very entertaining on both nights. We enjoyed both evenings equally. If we lived on the West Coast, I'm certain we'd be Pera regulars.
