“A kiss for Bisou”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2014 via mobile

An interesting little Bistro in The Castro. A great selection on the menu with reasonable prices. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Hostess was very friendly. BUT. Made deliberate reservations on July 14 - Bastille Day - expecting some celebration of sorts but was disappointed...no effort really...which was sad as it was meant to be a highlight of our SF stay. And they had no duck confit!

“Excellent find in the Castro”

Great little restaurant right on Market st. Very nice ambience, great cocktails. The food was very good, Kobe tartare and confit duck. Good selection of wines, French and local. Recommended.

“Fantastic, great value French meal!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2014

We came to Bisou for the last night of our honeymoon trip to the States. We didn't have a reservation but were able to get a table upstairs without issue. The meal highlight was the Kobe tartare. One of the best tartare we've tasted. That the waiter puts it together at your table is a special treat and ensured it was super fresh. The beef cheeks and duck entrees were melt in your mouth and the side of mushrooms were garlicky goodness. We were not overly fond of the cheese we shared for dessert but enjoyed the dessert wine and cocktail anyway. The service was so attentive and friendly without being overbearing. The guys even treated us to a champagne to begin our meal, which helped set the tone for probably the best meal we had all honeymoon. The bill came to $125 for two apps, two entrees, a side and a shared cheese dessert plus four glasses of wine. Considering the quality, this was a steal. Would definitely recommend!

“Consistently high quality and innovative cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014

We were treated to an early New Year's Eve dinner by a friend. The special menu consisted of five small courses, all outstanding. The first was a lobster bisque with crisp shrimp in it. The second was a salmon over risotto. The third was a shelled lobster with mushrooms. The fourth course was a filet of beef with mashed potatoes mixed with shaved black and red truffle and white truffle oil. For dessert, my wife and our friend had berry mousse, and I had chocolate cake with crème fraiche and Chantilly cream. They had an excellent wine-by-the-glass menu, and we ordered a sweet wine. We were impressed to see that there were so many "regulars" who made it a point to visit Bisou for a special New Year's Eve dinner. The chef is constantly re-inventing himself. He said he will open a tapas restaurant a block away, to be called Beso, and he is planning to grow the vegetables for his restaurants himself to ensure the quality. We would visit more frequently if only we lived in San Francisco.

“Great dinner on New Year's Eve”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

We were visiting San Francisco over the holiday and booked our New Year's Eve dinner at Bisou. It was a five course menu with several selections for each course. When we entered the restaurant we were created by the chief. We were given a table that was in a busy area and the chief came back and moved us to an end table over looking the bar area. Each course was better then the one before- the food was outstanding- just the right size and severed at a comfortable pace that allowed us to really enjoy the evening. The martini's were on the small side but other then that it was an outstanding night. When we went to leave I found the chief to thank him and tell him how much we enjoyed the meal- he thanked my by name which impressed me!
