Description: Tacolicious is by no means a traditional taqueria-you won't find burritos here. What started out in the summer of 2009 as a little taco stand at the Thursday Ferry Plaza Farmers Market with a fittingly frivolous name, has become a sit-down, cocktail-driven restaurant, 120 tequilas strong. Tacos anchor a menu that extends to dishes such as beet salad with grapefruit and pumpkin seeds, tuna tostadas, grilled squid served Veracruz-style, albondigas, shrimp a la diabla, and toasted coconut flan. Like many native Californians, Mexican food is in us. Though we grew up traveling to Mexico regularly (and still do), it took a trip to Mexico City-where the food is served in settings as sophisticated and urban as you'll find anywhere in the world-for us to realize that tacos don't have to be relegated to street food or a corner mom-'n'-pop. We're proud to be based in San Francisco, a town where the words local, sustainable and organic have become so redundant that they make you want to yawn. But just in case you were wondering about our menu: The answer is almost always, "Yes, yes and yes."

Had chicken, shrimp and beef tacos. All were very flavorful and nicely spiced. Prices were great and the waitress was attentive and helpful.

“Excellent”

Very fresh and very tasty. First time in a taco restaurant and they set the bench perry high. The tacos were quite eclectic but all shared wonderful home grown produce and all were delicious!

“Gourmet tacos with authentic taste”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

We were taken here by our nephew who is hispanic and loves tacos. We do too. We have eaten many tacos many times around the Mission but thought we'd try the upscale version - we were not disappointed! We had the tacos of the day (cochinita pibil con aguacate - OMG, a religious experience), plus the carnitas, pollo asado and short ribs. So amazingly yummy. The atmosphere is great, too - you sit mostly on raised banquettes and tall chairs, there is a bar lining one entire side of the restaurant plus an outside eating area along the side of the restaurant in their terrace (with an large mural of Dolores neighbourhood and park). My 7-year-old loved his fish taco, rice and refried beans as well as the agua fresca of the day (raspberry and peach) and ice cream sundae (all on the kid's menu). Can't wait to visit our family again and go back to Tacolicious!!!!

“Fresh and tasty tacos!”
Reviewed July 31, 2013 via mobile

After touring the city all morning, we needed a place to eat a late lunch. Our group of 4 adults and 3 kids got a table with no wait at a little before 3:00. The chips and salsa were just what we needed, and we ordered the tasty cheese dip too. My husband and I had the 4 taco plate: fried cod, roasted vegetables, short ribs, and carnitas. All were delicious! The kids meal is a good value at $7.00 and includes agua fresca, a choice of an entree, rice, beans, and a sundae. My kids had the fried cod taco and the cheese quesadilla and both enjoyed their meals. Great service, and great food. I would go back!
