Based on other reviews, we decided to stop by at the Chestnut Street location as part of our wanders through the Marina district a nice sunny Saturday afternoon.
At a little past 1:30, the place was packed! The patio and bar were both full and we opted to wait for one of their small tables. After about 15 minutes, we were seated at one of the window tables and started our lunch with a nice glass of Champagne. We grazed our way through their excellent chips and salsa before settling of starters of calamari - deep, spicy smoky and tender; and the Tilapia ceviche - firm meaty fish, bright with citrus and the crunch of apple.
We then switched to margaritas with one of us having the violently colored nopal, with the other ordering the picante. While we are enjoying these delightful beverages we shared a taco four-pack of chicken en mole colorado, chorizo con papas and two of the pork taco of the week. All were really, really good with the pork special being our favorite.
We then finished off the meal with a nice margarita fresca which could almost be considered a palette cleanser with a nice background note of ginger adding a little heat.
Despite the number of diners (most of whom seem to be very much locals), the service was great and the staff well informed. Overall a place that's bright and boisterous with a definite happy buzz - And I can see why! We will be back.
