Pleasant French atmosphere close to China town, a mixture of well dressed customers and tourists. I had breakfast which consisted of a tomato and feta cheese omelette which was well filled and nicely presented. A great cappuccino. The restaurant is situated on a corner and is also great for people watching. I will return next time I visit San Francisco

This is our favorite lunch place in SF, and we never fail to eat here at least twice even on short trips. Very simple menu that is well executed, great selection of wine and a few good french beers on tap, and great ambiance in a naturally well lit setting. Enough to make it a well worth at least one visit. But what really makes this place a lot of fun is that it is the convergence of several streams of humanity; the edge of the shopping around Union Square, traffic from the financial district, and most fun of all the launching point for bus load after bus load of tourists into Chinatown. Never a dull moment. Service is usually pretty good; spotty at times when tables outside are in full swing on a warm sunny day. Only small negative is that their is always a line for the restrooms, sometimes pretty lengthy. But highly recommended.

the croissants are perfect, the lattes delicious and the smoked salmon eggs wonderful. Sneaky fact - their shop two doors down (coffee in the morning, wine bar in the afternoon) has the same food for less $$

I have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years and am happy to report that it has not lost any of its charm, excellent service and wonderful atmosphere. Its excellent location in the hear of San Francisco on a street corner busy with people but not cars. A treat is to sit outdoors in the afternoon sun between 4 pm and 7 pm in the summer and watch locals and tourists mingle and go about their lives. The food is excellent, the menu simple and the service friendly, fast, efficient and helpful. Excellent place to hang out for a couple of hours, even if only to have a cup of coffee or a drink. An added bonus is the large selection of foreign magazines, especially French and German ones, Der Spiegel, for example.
