“Rick Evan's Walking Tours”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

I have gone on all of Rick Evan's San Francisco walking tours with the same group of friends. If Rick adds other tours, we will take them. Rick's tours are informative and he knows his San Francisco history. Although I lived in San Francisco for many years, I never failed to learn more fascinating history about my favorite city on Rick's tours. I highly recommend these tours and they are a great idea when locals have visitors from other areas. Take all of his tours.

“Very informative and interesting”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

Rick has done this for around 5 years and has a good flow in his presentation. His choice of highlighted buildings is a really good use of a condensed area of the city so there is minimal walking but it is full of interesting history. You learn a lot about the inside workings of SF's building/planning world and "secret" gardens of the financial district. He starts with the past and ends with the future.

“A great two hour tour.”
Reviewed January 15, 2013 via mobile

I took this tour because I had such a great experience on Rick's Chinatown tour.

This one was just as amazing. Rick has an incredible grasp of history and architecture. His presentations always open up new understandings of both. Rick covers the expansion of the city as a result of the Gold Rush, the destruction of the earthquake of 1906 and the building boom that followed that halted abruptly with the stock market crash in 1929. Building resumes in the mid-20th century and sets a pattern for expansion out and up. Rick walks you through several of the privately owned public spaces; a unique feature in San Francisco. The tour ends just two blocks south of market in the new developing area of the city.

Again, the time went by so fast and I for one learned so much. You will not be disappointed.

We are locals and recently took Rick's excellent tour of Chinatown. It is packed with interesting information, history, architectural splendor, and an engaging overview of this fascinating part of San Franciso and its history.

Highly recommended.
