I was skeptical about going to this museum - it was not easy to get to using mass transit and it is fairly expensive at $20 per person. The first room or two I was even more skeptical as the information seemed to be info I could get from Wikipedia. The rest though? Blew me away. It made me realize how much of a patriot Walt Disney was, how smart he was technically when it came to his knowledge of animation and film production, his entrepreneurial decisions including his failures and lots of footage from his earliest drawings and cartoons. Overall, a very enjoyable and thorough museum that is geared towards adults willing to do a lot if reading, but I still felt it was overpriced at $20 per person.

So much deeper than we expected - a multi-media presentation of an American icon. Printed panels, audio, and video all contribute to a great presentation. I have a much greater appreciation for his genius and passion.

We spent 2.5 hours absorbing the galleries, and probably only took in a third of the information - we were trying to keep moving.

Crowds were not an issue (we arrived at 10:30), but we were leaving as the crowd was building.

This is not a great venue for young children - they will be bored - but there are cartoon and movie clips scattered throughout.

I don't think its possible to travel through the man's life and walk away thinking he was "ordinary" in any way. But it takes a level of maturity to grasp what's being presented.

We finished the gallery tour, then grabbed a quick pre-made sandwich from the on-site café - then sat through a 1 hour showing of a Wonderful World of Color TV show. Brought back lots of memories of being a kid growing up with Disney TV on Sunday nights.

We will definitely return.

Reminiscent of an American presidential library, the Walt Disney Family Museum boasts a vast displayed collection of archives and primary source materials concerning the life, artistry and business affairs of the great Walt Disney. Arranged chronologically, the museum focuses on Walt's artistic (/business) career and it does so in a manner that is both fascinating and undeniably impressive. (Relying on photos, videos, letters, and text, the multimedia setup offers an attention-keeping conveyance of the story of Walt Disney.

In the lobby prior to the gallery entrance, one can see (for free) the many many awards bestowed upon the near mythic figure over the course of his lifetime. No one (perhaps save Shakespeare) can lay claim to so great an impact on the world of entertainment as Walt and the museum is a testament to that. And I needn't remind you that he did so in a way that was fun but also moving and real, and the museum reflects that as well.

I recommend stopping in. Discounts available for AAA and military gets in free with their families.

A beautiful location, near the Golden Gate Bridge. Be sure to enjoy the view from the floor to ceiling windows in the back of the museum. A legacy to Walt Disney, his family and achievements.

Full story and documentation about Walt Disney and his family, which are displayed in a smart and creative way. If you like Disney's movies you will enjoy this museum, give it at least 2- 3 hours visit

The museum's location is a little bit far from down town, near golden gate bridge, about 15 minutes drive by taxi and cost around $22 round trip from Union Square or you can rent a bicycle to ride there and Golden Gate bridge yourself
