Brilliant museum with great hands on exhibits. Interesting video presentation, early pong machine and an interactive ride in a stagecoach. Really enjoyed it, as did my husband and son and it's free!

Ok --- I don't understand the 4 and 5 star ratings....

The positive: it is free (but I guess you get what you pay for)

The museum is one room on the ground floor with a loft; lots of interesting lore from the 1800's with display cases showing memorabilia from the old West --- I have taken a bunch of photos in case you want to see if it is worth a detour. There is a stagecoach in the window (I liked that) and a mini-stagecoach for kids to play on. Lots of interactive stuff for the kids (old phone for example) and the kids who were here for a field trip seemed to be having a great time. Maybe I am just getting old.

Anyway, it does not meet my definition of a "4" --- worthy of a detour to see.

The Museum is quite small and in reception area of one of the Wells Fargo Bank admin buildings in the Financial District. Pride of place was an 1867 stage coach which immediately took me back to TV "Westerns" as a youngster. There was also a separate mock up you could sit in to experience the feel of riding in one. Upstairs was what looked like a simple screw press which in reality was the forerunner of the current day photocopier. There was also a demonstration set-up of an early Morse Code Telegraph. Elsewhere were other small items of memorabilia, plus large prints of Messrs Wells & Fargo. The young lady on the reception desk was extremely helpful in
explaining the exhibits.

Located at the Wells Fargo office in San Francisco, this shows the history of the company and the family and the areas of business that it has been and is involved in. There are some interactive things to do, including morse code and stage coaches.
Children would like the interaction elements of the museum.

Interesting to find out that Wells Fargo was one of the founding fathers of San Francisco, but the museum doesn't tell you much more than the guide book.

This museum is rather small but free and definitely worth a visit. It has tons of cool things related to transportation finances and communication. It would be great for children as there are several opportunities for hands on engagement through out the exhibits. There is even a camera set up so it will take and print your picture! The employee at the museum was extremely helpful and offered lots of great tourist sites and tips!
