“Excellent innercity park with helpful staff”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

I was very impressed with this park and the staff, they even had a minibus to take you into town, for a price, but that's ok, the convenience of not having to park in SF was worth it.
We found this place by accident after being locked out of the rv park we were supposed to stay in at Greenbrae, the place was a dump, and we wouldn't have stayed there anyway.
The security at this park (Candlestick) was wonderful, and very courteous, particularly when they found out what we had just gone through at the other place.
Mr Chu, the next morning, couldn't have been nicer, and the other campers at the park were very pleasant, friendly and helpful (I had never seen a laundry need $1 coins, but the office kept a supply of them for your convenience).
I can't say enough good about this park, they were great.

I guess if you're a football fan and have an RV, this would be a good place to stay because it's directly across from the stadium and it's close to Fisherman's Wharf. The guy in the office who checked us in was friendly and very helpful. There is a Shuttle Bus from Candlestick that will take you downtown.

Having said that, here's the bad stuff. It's a big concrete parking lot and it looks more like an RV sales lot than an RV Park. I'm not even including photos because there's nothing to take photos of. The spaces are so narrow, we were barely able to open our slide. There's a large, clean, over-priced laundromat; $2.50 a load to wash and 25 cents for each five minutes to dry. There is also a camp store where everything is over-priced. The WiFi is free but mind numbingly slow. There is no cable TV. Local stations are mostly in Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, or Spanish. After searching for awhile, I wasn't sure I was in America anymore. They don't allow dogs over 50 pounds, we have two dogs with us, and no place to walk them. The website says to walk dogs "off property." We are towing a car, but there are no restaurants close-by to grab some fast food. There isn't enough room to get out a grill to cook next to our RV. No pool, nothing to do once you get back to the "Park" from your San Francisco outings. They advertise an RV wash, but no one seemed to know anything about it. Even getting propane is "by appointment only."

Our RV spot for three adults and two children was over $100 a night with the three extra people and taxes. I wouldn't mind paying that if we were on the ocean, had a pool or pretty grounds to walk. We kept hearing smoke detectors going off in RV's around us. My husband's concern was, because we were so packed into this lot, if one RV caught fire, it would cause a chain reaction.

So, if staying in a "real" RV Park is important to you, find someplace else.

Stayed 3 nights @ $75 a night. It is a parking lot with hookups. Take their bus @ $12 a person, or a taxi to areas in San Francisco you want to visit. I rode my bike out of the park...The areas around the park are tough, but the security in the park is tight. Restrooms and showers are very clean. Stock up on ice and do the laundry elsewhere as it is pricey at the park. Wifi worked well after peak hours on one side of the park.

Our first night in an Elmonte hired RV havin picked up the RV in Dublin CA (100km from SF).
Cstick is a bit like an extension of the baseball stadium car park. Not the nicest area but they had security. Cost us over $100 for a night - most expensive RV park we stayed at in the US by about $30. Toilet block clwan and heated. Shop with spme basics - Expensive.
It is in a good position to head into SF or oit of town being on the freeway. But there are cheaper and better equipped parks just over the bridge and a nice one on the coast (15 mins further) but wld newd to book.

We were staying in a KOA in Petaluma and were told that camping at Candlestick park would be a bit "sketchy". They tried to convince us to stay at the KOA and use a ferry to go into town each of our 4 days in the area. A half hour drive and then a ferry each day.... We decided to check out the Candlestick RV park. We found our way there easily. We arrived to find that a shuttle bus was just about to take the last run into town. They kindly waited some extra minutes while we parked our camper and we hopped the shuttle which dropped us off right in Chinatown. "Pick up at 6:00 or 8:00?" Great service! We found this campsite very clean and the staff very friendly. The razor wire-topped fence surrounding the camping area was not the prettiest site, but the 24-hour security had us not worry about what looked like a bit of a rough area. The evenings were quiet. (It would be quite a different story, I'm sure, if there were any events at the stadium across the street!!) I would recommend this campsite to an RVer. If you didn't mind a walk of a few blocks, you could also use public transit right into town. We were glad we did not listen to the warnings. The nightly cost of $69 (we paid for 3 nights and got the fourth free) was high but the convenience was worth it.

We booked with Candlestick RV for 2 nights in Feb/12, and when we discovered (unfortunately after the fact!) that this "5 star park" only CHARGED like a 5 star, I called to cancel. We needed a dog walk area, which apparently they don't have. We also wanted cable for weather forecasts - also not available. And the idea of paying $74 a night for a park with limited amenities & laid out like a parking lot was not appealing. I called, and was told I could cancel without penalty. Imagine my surprise to get an email from them advising me they'd changed their minds & were now going to bill my credit card $163! The worst though, was the advice of Mr. Chu - if we'd told him we had an emergency or mechanical breakdown, he wouldn't have charged us for cancelling. In other words, if we'd LIED, we'd be fine! I disputed the charge - my bank believes the charge was fraudulent. We'll see what lies they tell to try to get themselves out of this particular mess! Don't stay here!!!!!!!

Staid here for 4 nights, 4th night free, nothing more or less than a concrete slab to park the RV, in the shade of the 49rs stadium , would not like to be here on match days! Very friendly staff, for additional cost shuttle bus to the city, 12 dollar per person, which adds up. However, the driver dropped us off wherever we wanted. All in all, I am sure there are nicer locations to stay in an RV near or in San Fran, however, if you do end up here, it is not a bad choice.
