Owner description: Considered to be the Champs Elysees of the city, this grand street is filled with shops, hotels, and, along the way, remarkable architecture.

If only they would make this corridor pedestrian only. Lot's of shops, restaurants and great people watching. Take caution with the people asking for money (remember SF takes really good care of their 'urban campers'). Don't forget to look up at the buildings, there are some pretty ones.

Market Street in San Francisco is a main artery, and has some cool historic buildings, statuary, etc., and everyone is making an effort to keep it clean and free of panhandlers. Between the Ferry and the Civic Center gets pretty dicey, though.

Shopping and vintage buses, cable cars! So much fun to just people watch if your not a shopper. But if your a shopper, lots to see and buy!

It was the low point of our SF trip. We hopped off a cable car in the shopping center of Market St. and were constantly asked for money. We found an information booth but the attendant was annoyed answering questions. I bought a transit map which requires an aeronautical degree in engineering to understand. Standing in the crowds confused by a map was like wearing a "free-money" sign. The only restroom we could find was in the basement of Old Navy which was actually a good thing because at least the store workers try to monitor who uses it - I can't imagine a public restroom in that area. This was just a tiny bump in our trip - the rest of SF was so fantastic!

A couple of hours is what you need to walk the entire length dependent on your desire to visit shops, a very busy area with some good photo points. Some very interesting buildings and small off shoots to walk along while you head for The Ferry Building; There is very often a small market on the waterfront at the end of Market street where you can spend an hour browsing local goods.
