Owner description: Located in downtown San Francisco, this building, shaped like a pyramid, is a well-known symbol of the city skyline.

Walking from embarcadero centre to Chinatown only takes 15 minutes. Right in the middle you will come across the unusual skyscraper that dominates the frisco skyline.

At its base is a lovely little garden with figures of children in bronze running and playing - around a pond with giant frogs and fountains.

From North Beach this huge building is well and almost completely visible, for beautiful photos. Bacause of the sloping walls of the pyramid, you can also create artistic photos up close. The building is an icon of San Francisco, which may not be missed in a photo series about the city.

The story of the Transamerica Pyramid is fascinating, trust me, look it up. The building is awe-inspiring and easily one of the more photogenic commercial buildings in our country. Standing at the base of the building is amazing, especially when looking up the face of the tower. The neighborhood surrounding the tower is, nice, with the exception of Chinatown. You can't get in the tower, so it lacks some of the excitement that is presented by the Empire State building or 30 Rock though. There is a tiny park located right next to the building that is a fun spot to watch passersby.

We walked all the way down to the pyramid only to realize that we couldn't get the entire building on our photo! It is quite a long walk from the main downtown area. When we went to Chinatown, we were able to get really good shots of it!

As there is no public access to this building the best thing do is view it from somewhere else. If you wander round some of the nearby streets you can get some fantastic photos at sunrise & sunset. Another good place to see it from is around Nob Hill area/ Russia hill.
