“Serene break from the outside world”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2013

This is wonderful garden, and they do serve tea and sitting and contemplating seems to be encouraged and we spent a fun time taking pictures even thought the lighting was pretty harsh, then took the time to sit and watch the garden, the giant Koi fish swim about.

It does cost a bit of money to get in, but its a great contrast to other touristy type activities in the city and well worth the admission price.

“Nice side trip while visiting Golden Gate Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2013

Lots of interesting things for kids to see and do. A good tea house in the garden to get a snack. Be sure to check out the country's oldest playground for kids while at Golden Gate Park.

“A density of texture, color and sound in simplistic form”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

The Japanese's tea garden in san Francisco is one of the best in the nation. With a density of texture belayed in simplistic form throughout the garden. Each area carrying its own flavor and style. Stone, wood, bonsai, water, bamboo and intimate plant species trimmed meticulously. Our family loved this garden . Be sure to walk the many distinctive bridges in this garden.

“Lovely place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

This is a peaceful place to spend a warm afternoon and enjoy the lovely gardens. An unusual find close to the Science Museum and the Botanical Gardens which can be reached by the great bus services from the centre of SF.

“A small piece of Eden in San Francisco”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

Beautiful, peaceful, just an amazing place to visit on a trip to SF. Takes about an hour to tour, and I highly recommend the free guided tour that is available (look up walking tours of SF). Amazing history and quite beautiful. Avoid the souvenir shop -- not much to offer.
