“quaint but overrated garden”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

I really wanted to like this place. I read a lot about it and it was recommended to me by a lot of friends. but i was really disappointed.
the entrance fee is $7 and that's a pretty penny for this garden.
the coy fish ponds are nice, and there are some really interesting trees, but the place is rather small and you can walk through it in less than 15 minutes without seeing anything too impressive. the part that really got me was the $3 cup of tea that was about 1/4 of a cup.... i felt really scammed after that.
if you want to come here, I'd say visit during the free hours (mon/wed from 9-10AM, I believe but double check) so you dont feel disappointed....

“Beautiful peaceful place to visit!”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

Beautiful place to just enjoy scenery and a quiet peaceful break of our day in Golden Gate Park. Would've loved it more had they labeled some of the trees so that we could tell the type because they had some really amazing plant life! Some construction going on so a little messed up near the tea shop but it was okay because we didn't go there anyway.

“A place of total relaxation full of Zen”

Took my 80 year old mom here for tea before starting our tour of the city. Perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle. A must see when visiting SF.

“Always a treat”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

The place is serene and so beautiful even outside of spring when most things would be at peak bloom. The gardens are just delightful. I highly recommend this place for a stroll in the park. It's not expensive and well worth going plus you can have tea and take some great photos.

“Great little garden.”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

Took my GF as she loves Asian influenced design, gardening, etc. The park is very nice. Perfectly manicured, nice little walking paths, a bunch of beautiful things to enjoy; small structures, different bushes, trees, ponds, etc. There is a little Japanese style cafe in the middle of it as well. It is a just a hair overpriced for what it is, but not ridiculous. (Visited Nov'11)
