absolutely fabulous! great energy, amazing costuming, lighting, singign and acting, so much talent, and pleasantly unexpected staging. ... all around a fabulous experience! also very much enjoyed the pre-concert lecture.

Such a wonderful way to allow families and people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy the rapturous music of Puccini, Mozart, whomever, while also enjoying the gorgeous, Giant's Stadium and sunny, California afternoon, simultaneously. San Francisco specializes in these high culture, low cost, public events and should be commended for their consistent commitment to quality of life, for both their residents and visitors!

The SF Opera has a very good cafe and coffee bar. The bathrooms are plentiful and have an old world charm to them. Everything is spotlessly clean. The ushers are very helpful and don't seem bothered by questions.

I never thought that I would see Placido Domingo in person but we were thrilled to see him in Cyrano at the SF Opera. What an opulent, gorgeous, tremendous prouduction. Purchasedt tickets on www.craigslist.com a few days before and was very pleased with the acoustics, the ambiance and the pleasant nature of the other patrons. Everyone seemed so happy to be there. I really do love San Francisco, my home. Some nights, like this night, it even seems magical.

Being "Wagner nuts", we made the trip from London to SF especially to attend the Ring Cycle, four operas played inside one week. We have seen at least 10 performances, including three in Bayreuth, that "Holy of Holies", where Wagner designed the opera house specifically to stage his Ring Cycle. If, like us, you're 'hooked' on these operas, we urge you to get to a future SF Ring, if you can afford the time and money. To us, it was superior to last year's Bayreuth Ring, both in terms of the production and the quality of singers. With exception of the first two acts of Siegfried (the third opera in the Cycle) - the SF Ring was among the most fascinating and innovative we've ever seen. We loved Nina Stemme - surely the best Brunhilde of our time and in glorious voice - and Mark Delavan, a sonorous, charismatc Wotan. Visually and musically, it was superb. We congratulate Francesca Zambello on her interpretation and production. We loved it!

We have gone to the opera various times this year and it is an unforgettable experience. The quality of the production is top notch and the spiritual food one receives from a night at the opera is so nourishing. We recommend this as an outing for those visiting the city during opera season. The opera is a long standing tradition in our city by the bay and getting dressed up is part of the fun. We also love to eat out near-by and the choices are always expanding.
