We went to Slanted Door for our anniversary dinner. The food was outstanding and enjoyed the setting and view over the bay. Our server matched our wine well with our food. The restaurant was packed for the July 4 holiday, but Slanted Door handled everything very well.

We didn't have reservations so expected to have a wait but the hostess (not incredibly friendly, I must say) said it would be over two hours wait but recommended we ask at the bar. The gentleman taking names at the bar was attentive and friendly and told us it would be around 45 minutes. We patiently waited at the side and watched how the barmen efficiently ensured the list of names was followed and before we knew it we had a great seat!

The bartender/waiter was very social, helpful and quite funny - he attended to us throughout the evening, made some recommendations and was a gracious host. We ordered a variety of appetizers and a couple entrees - all very good, different flavors and fairly priced. The atmosphere was lively yet not too loud and the pace of the food was executed flawlessly and value priced.

I would recommend this place for a date, with friends - tourists and locals alike. That said, the only comments I would make is make sure you have a reservation as, like most places, the hostess is a bit too self-important but don't let that put you off - the food is worth it!

Tried to get in here once before on a weekend but it was too packed. Got in on a thursday for lunch and was glad we did. Started with great oysters, fantastic imperial roll and wildly creative melon salad. Definitely will be back

Went for a late lunch and had no problem getting seated. The food is very good, although fairly expensive. The service was slow and we waited on our food. Great views and certainly a restaurant to visit while in San Francisco.

I had read mixed reviews about this place but wanted to try it and booked a table for the first night of our holiday. After two weeks of eating amazing food this was one of my favourite restaurants. The restaurant was very busy so I recommend booking. We started with delicious cocktails and then ordered starters. The Waitress was very helpful and advised that the portions are large and made for sharing. A bit tricky when there was only two of us and I am veggie and my husband eats meat. So we welcomed the advice. The food was delicious, very fresh flavours. We were tired from travelling but the buzzy atmosphere kept us awake (with a little help from Moscow Mules!).
