We love the food at Slanted Door. They have a wonderful menu and it is hard to choose a few dishes when you would like to taste them all. This trip we chose Manilla Clams, and Imperial Rolls to share. We then had Shaking Beef and Cellophane Noodles with Dungeness Crab to share. Dessert was the Olive Oil Cake. It was all excellent, but we both noticed the small amount of crab in the noodles and that it did seem more Blue Crab than Dungeness. Every 2-5 years we get to San Francisco. On this trip we were looking forward to dining at Slanted Door again. We lucked into a 5:30 reservation after several attempts and rearranged our plans to accomodate the restaurant's schedule. We rushed to the restaurant to get in line for our 5:30 seating, the first of the night. Staff walked past the growing line with noticeable effort to avoid questions or conversation. There was no greeting, explanation or apology for the fact that we waited until 5:50 for a hostess to appear and BEGIN seating. That did effect my whole attitude during the meal. Everything seemed far more regimented and rushed than I noticed before. BUT the weather was the most fabulous we have ever experienced in SF, the view is always awesome from Slanted Door, and the food was excellent.
