Had a pleasant stay at the Marriott, recently. Location is great. Very close to Union Square and all it's shops and restaurants. The Chinatown gate is just down the street and North Beach is just a short hike away. The closest BART stop is 2-3 blocks on Powell street. A short walk down the hill from the hotel. You can easily access much of the city if you stay here. I had no problems here. There was always someone there to get the door for you. The hotel was secure and quiet (well at least on the 14th floor where I stayed). My room was spacious and clean. Bathroom was your typical shower/bath combo. The bed was very soft and comfortable. Ventilation was good, etc. not much to complain about. The maid service was a little slow but the ABA convention was in town and they were booked solid. I didn't stay much in the room anyway. Have only the Union Square Hilton to compare this too and the Marriott is much better. Can't comment on restaurant/food since I didn't eat here. Would, I stay here again, definitely.

I loved my stay at the Marriott Hotel Union Square. The location is perfect, the staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are beautiful. I would stay here again and again and again. I also recommend the hotel bar/restaurant - the food is good and the waiters friendly. Don`t miss eating breakfast at Lori's Diner across the street.

Room Tip: I stayed on the 24th floor - fabulous views!

We stayed at 5 stars hotel the first night and did not sleep because of people next to us. We changed reservation and moved to this hotel for two nights and it is fantastic. Francis, at the guest check in treated us like VIP and got us a room with a greatview. The concierge was great as well. Rented the car for us and gave us tons of tips on where to go, eat and do. Room is great so is the bathroom. Location of this hotel is in the center of everything.

Room Tip: Ask for a high rise.

Stayed 3 nights in this Union Square Marriott. Had 2 rooms..one standard and one upgraded corner room. Standard room is tight for more than a couple people, corner room was very roomy. We found rooms very clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was always on the floor ready to get into your room when you were leaving. It was nice to always come back and have room already cleaned. Location is terrific - lots of shopping, restaurants and transit options nearby. Easy walk to chinatown and less than $10 taxi to wharf area. Special kudos to the doormen - they were so friendly and actually walked us to the corner to show us where to grab a good pizza. We were in and out a lot, and everyone at the door acknowledged us and made us feel welcome each time. Concierge lounge is more crowded with families than typical Marriott - so it could use a little more space. But breakfast was good and $5 honor bar drinks in the evening were reasonably priced . Place is very busy with large groups of foreign tourists. Elevators moved fast - no long wait times. Even as a platinum Marriott member and calling in request for adjoining rooms in advance - the best they could do for us is 2 rooms on the same floor. I'd recommend staying here over the congested tourist trap areas around the wharf. Very decent and you know what to expect!

Room Tip: Corner room was great...separate entrance hallway with larger bathroom & 2 sets of windows we st...

Location location location ! Near the tram, just a block from all the great shops and 5 minute walk from the mall.Car isn't necessary if you are going to take tours and do some shopping. Has a wallgreens right in front. Nice room, but the bathroom is a little too small. Overall service is excellent !!! Breakfast is better and cheaper than other locations near the hotel. It was our first visit, won't be our last.

We stayed here with our three kids aged 5,9 and 11 in a 2*Queen room with a roll-away. Although we were a little tight for space tbh with 5 people in the room it wasn't a great problem. The staff were all pleasant throughout our stay and overall it was a good visit. It was our first Marriott stay and it wont be our last. The best bit for us was the breakfast buffet where the kids could eat for $5.99 when eating with us. OK ours was $25 each but when feeding five people it felt like much better value than most other decent places. Also, the location is brilliant. It was my first time in San Francisco so I actually thought it was farther from union Square than it actually was. Nice restaurant in the Sir Frances Drake across the street but recommend booking as its busy. Walgreens on the other corner is 24 hour so quite easy to get the small things sorted.

Room Tip: If you are in a family the breakfast buffet was good value.

We didn't know San Francisco so chose a brand that we like in the location that we wanted. We chose a suite (2 adults and 2 children) and were quite happy with the size. As expected all was clean and fresh. The lobby bar is quite nice (with free wifi) and the cost of a drink did not seem much more than a regular bar (the local Anchor Steam beer was great).

We were happy with our rate and would be happy to stay here again.

There is a Starbucks across the street and plenty of places to eat close by although naturally very tourist orientated. Everywhere has lines for breakfast so you might want to take the deal for breakfast in the hotel.

Room Tip: The hotel is on a bush road (on the trolly bus route) so choose a high room for peace and quiet. Our...
