I stayed here for the first time just last weekend. There is plenty to walk to!! Chinatown, Union Square, More Shopping than I can do, etc. And, when you don't wanna walk, you can jump on the Trolley line, that passes right in front of the hotel, and take a fantastic ride all the way to Fisherman's Warf. The staff was super friendly, room was very large with an amazing view, and the concierge helped us book the most fantastic French sunday brunch.
VERY PLEASED...I will be back! :)

Room Tip: The Higher the better :)

We stayed here twice. It. ' s tstfully done and the location couldnt be better. The rooms are a tad small and the usual stiff parking fees. If your cheap this is the wrong town...we are going back on thanksgiving. It is not super fancy but .$160 plus extras sounds good.

Room Tip: Upstairs ..a high room

Arrived on a Saturday. Trying to get to the valet/bellman was a nightmare! There is only street parking for valet drop off so you have to jockey with all the other cars going up Sutter to try and get to the curb.

Room was small but tidy and the beds were VERY comfortable!!!!

Asked if it used to be another hotel as it didn't seen typical Marriott to me...answer....YES, used to be Crown Plaza. Check in was pleasant although hidden behind some rather large columns.

Loved having a Starbucks directly across the street. Made getting coffee and food quite easy early on a Sunday morning.

Would I stay here again? Maybe..but would rather try a new hotel and avoid the parking mess. Took forever to get my car Sunday afternoon from valet...never got to the bottom of that one.

I managed to leave my special ergonomic pillow on the bed when I checked out. Called today and they are mailing it back to me. Thanks Marriott!

Room Tip: Unless you get a room higher than the 17th floor, you don't get a view.

Get a high-floor room with a window and you have a wonderful view of the city and Bay. We had a very spacious room - which was immaculate. The bathroom is a bit small but had Paul Mitchell shampoo samples which is a nice touch. EXTREMELY friendly staff. My room didn't have a fridge so I requested one which was sent up within minutes at no extra charge. Easy walk to shopping, restaurants and Chinatown. A Walgreens Pharmacy and 7-Eleven right across the street.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views.

i used to stay at this property when it was a Crown Plaza many years ago. Marriott came in and removed the old fashioned charm and updated it to average. Rooms are small but tidy, check in desk now in its new location is situated behind giant columns so it is difficult to see the person at the desk if the lobby is full of people. Union square is such a fabulous place to stay to be in the center of all the S.F.action but be prepared to pay the price and the tax as it is pretty hefty. Room has no frig, hair dryer is in the closet since there is no bathroom counter space. Staff here were all quite friendly.
