Owner description: Bike the Bridge! At Blazing Saddles Bike Rental and Tours we want our guests to come away from a day on our bikes feeling as if they have just experienced the very best that our city has to offer. Whether it is a local resident enjoying our state of the art equipment or a visitor seeing the city for the first time, we encourage our riders to enjoy the bike friendly environment of San Francisco. Blazing Saddles was one of the first in the industry to develop a proprietary map of suggested routes and points of interest, and we have been a major pioneer in promoting cycling through the Presidio National Park, over the Golden Gate Bridge and into Sausalito and Tiburon. All of our seven locations in San Francisco have easy access to a car-free bike path that winds around the city by the bay. We have the largest fleet of bikes in San Francisco, including state of the art electric bikes, tandems and kids' bikes. We also have high performance road and mountain bikes for those who want to explore Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Mt. Tamalpais State Park. We rent bikes 365 days a year and are open at 8am every day. For those that want something more, we offer a daily tour with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. No reservations necessary.

This is a no none sense, what you see is what you get operation. The staff are courteous, practical, and efficient. Go early and get on the road quick before the paths get busy. i used the bike to cross the bridge and come back by ferry. The ferry ticket sold to you at Blazzing Saddles makes sense, so buy it there in advance. Carry a water bottle and snack bar - you'll need it. Make a lot of stops and take in the view; the ride goes fast.

The bridge kinda surprised me; it was not the lifetime moment I expected. It is so busy and loud on the bridge that you really need to stop and block it out to enjoy the view. Suggest you carry some headphones and music. The ride down into Sausalito is fast and fun - I liked the local deli shop for a fresh made sandwich.

We're happy you thought so highly of our business and our staff! We try to bring the best bike experts to Blazing Saddles so that we can ensure our customers are equipped with the tools for a great ride across the Bridge. Hopefully, the next time you are in San Francisco, you can come bike your way to Old Mill Park to see the world's tallest trees, or to Tiburon to enjoy some delicious sea food at that historic fishing town!' Thanks for biking with us!
Bike the Bridge!

We went to the Jefferson St location, as it was the closest to our hotel.

We passed other, cheaper bike rental places, but we had a 10% off coupon for Blazing Saddles, so we went with them. I had a route already planned out, which was a good thing, because the guy there spent a grand total of 30 seconds giving us directions to Sausalito/Muir Woods and it would've been impossible to follow if I hadn't had a map and an itinerary worked out. Also, he didn't even ask us which bikes we wanted, but would've given us the ones for $36/day if I hadn't said we wanted the ones for $32/day. Those suffice, especially if you only plan on biking across the bridge and back - we biked a total of about 25 miles and our butts took it well.

A hidden gem not on any of their maps is the Wave Organ, which can be found about halfway between the rental locations around Fisherman's Wharf and the GGB. We biked back from Vista Point and to the Golden Gate Park as we only had three days in the city and hadn't seen it yet, but should we be back we will definitely stick to their itinerary and keep going after crossing the bridge!

While we recommend that our customers take the always beautiful route across the Golden Gate Bridge into sunny Sausalito, it is definitely a treat to ride through the world famous Golden Gate Park (We hope you had a chance to see that observation deck at the top of the de Young Museum!)
We apologize if you missed the marking for the Wave Organ on our map. While we don't address it in our map orientation, it is a unique spot in San Francisco and we are happy you found it! Hope to see you next time you are ready to bike the Bridge!

Found an excellent deal on the internet for an all day bike rental for two for the price of one. Of course I couldn't pass up the opportunity. We opted for the self guided tour and the lady at the desk (sorry can't remember her name) was extremely informative. Provided us with a map and two tickets to the ferry in which we had the option to use them or not. There are also directions attached to the handle bars but the map was sufficient. Ferry times were clearly pointed out for us to avoid any confusion. After a quick orientation of our bikes we were off to explore San Francisco and cross the Golden Gate Bridge! It took us about two and half hours to complete the tour, with stops along the way, and took advantage (not to mention a much needed break) of the ferry in Sausalito. Definitely a challenge riding up some of the steep hills on the way to the bridge but so very worth it. Was also a pleasant surprise to have such a warm welcome and congratulations on our ride when we returned the bikes! Would absolutely recommend exploring the city on bikes and Blazing Saddles did a wonderful job in providing so!

Although we would recommend cycling across the bridge to everyone wanting to see this amazing structure we would not return back to Blazing Saddles. Big sales pitch from the moment we walked in, hidden costs such as ferry rides which wasn't clear .. They even insisted on talking us through rides we clearly stated we didn't want to go on making us feel frustrated. We weren't allowed to use their loo either which isnt welcoming. water twice the price of nearby shops. Very fast introduction to the bikes - brakes etc on different side to GB bikes. Bikes very heavy especially for our younger son, and as for the 'saddle designed specifically for ladies' - it certainly wasn't a lady designer! All in all a very expensive outing, and although we had a great few hours, when we compare this company to the wonderful service we received from every other Californian we met on our weeks tour we were very disappointed. Try another bike hire place!

Dear wend68,

We’re really sorry that you did not like the service and procedures during your visit to our store.

We explain to every party that the ferry tickets are $10.50 each and are good for Sausalito or Tiburon, for any ferry company at any time, and if they don’t use them they can bring them back. The ferry ticket price is the same as the Blue and Gold Fleet. Providing the ticket beforehand is simply for our customer’s convenience since it saves them time from waiting in the ticket line. All of our price lists and our website explain that the ferry service is a separate company and that the tickets are not included.

We do not have a public bathroom, but do direct our customers to the closest ones from all of our stores and also have several public bathrooms listed on our suggested bike route map.

We’re glad that you enjoyed the bike ride and we appreciate your feedback. We will definitely take it into consideration as we are always trying to improve our procedures. We are glad that you had a great trip to California, though!

I took a weekend trip to SF with two friends (we're all in our early 20s), and we wanted to see how much it would be to rent a bike so we could see a little more territory in our short time there. We were quickly informed that those in hostels get a 50% discount, so we were convinced. Both employees at the Jefferson St. location (Natalie and a younger guy whose name I did not catch) were very helpful and straight-forward. It was nice to be charged what they said you were being charged after having such horrible experiences with rental car companies (where they love throwing on additional BS fees). More proof that bicycles will always be better than cars :). Anyway, I've toured all over the world on a bike but had never been to SF before, and this trip was one of the best I've had in such a short time. We lucked out with gorgeous weather and had a blast. We went over to Sausalito and then up to Old Mill Park, which is a MUST SEE.

The most telling part of the whole experience, though, was after my buddy accidentally took the bike lock key with him and left our hostel room key in the bike bag. We were a 15 minutes' walk away before he realized it. By the time we got back to the Blazing Saddles location, they were closed. We still had the map they gave us, though, and found the other location down the street that's open later into the night. Out of the strangest streak of luck, we happened to see Natalie walking down the street from that location. We caught up with her, told her our situation, and she happily took us back to the Jefferson Street location and let us in to exchange the keys. She didn't have to do it, and she very easily could have told us to come back the next day or 'too bad, so sad,' but she was happy to help us out. That kind of customer service (and attitude) is hard to find, and we were very appreciative of it. I would recommend this company (and location) to anybody and everybody. The prices were unbeatable, the bike paths and views were spectacular, and the employees were more than nice. Thanks again, Natalie!

Thank you so much for you awesome feedback! It really rings our bell to know that we provided you with excellent service and that you had such a great experience in such a short time. Natalie is definitely the best of the best; she’s awesome!!! :) We’re also happy to hear that you were pleased to know that none of our bike rental prices are taxed, so what you see is definitely what you get!
