Owner description: Bike the Bridge! At Blazing Saddles Bike Rental and Tours we want our guests to come away from a day on our bikes feeling as if they have just experienced the very best that our city has to offer. Whether it is a local resident enjoying our state of the art equipment or a visitor seeing the city for the first time, we encourage our riders to enjoy the bike friendly environment of San Francisco. Blazing Saddles was one of the first in the industry to develop a proprietary map of suggested routes and points of interest, and we have been a major pioneer in promoting cycling through the Presidio National Park, over the Golden Gate Bridge and into Sausalito and Tiburon. All of our seven locations in San Francisco have easy access to a car-free bike path that winds around the city by the bay. We have the largest fleet of bikes in San Francisco, including state of the art electric bikes, tandems and kids' bikes. We also have high performance road and mountain bikes for those who want to explore Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Mt. Tamalpais State Park. We rent bikes 365 days a year and are open at 8am every day. For those that want something more, we offer a daily tour with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. No reservations necessary.

We biked from pier 39 across the Golden Gate Bridge for lunch in Sausilito. Good bike, great directions but don't believe it when they say it is mostly flat. The entire bridge is an uphill climb although not terribly srenuous. The climb right after the bridge is quite long and reasonably difficult but once you get past that, it is finally all downhill.

I was a little worried about hiring a bike, but needed have been. The ride from Fishermans wharf over the Bridge to Sausalito was relatively easy, with a few small hills along the way. We caught the ferry back from Sausalito, but Sausalito was a nice spot to stop for lunch, a drink or an ice-cream. Definitely recommend hiring a bike if you are in SF to do this trip! It was great. We also got a deal on the bike hire from the hostel we were staying at, so it pays to check out any deals being offered.

We took two bikes for a tour during a whole Saturday. They provide you with a map and a suggested route. You can return the bike in many different places.

We hired bikes (as most people do) to cycle over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausolito. It’s a lovely cycle, and the bikes were fine. Nothing was wrong, but the whole process is so automated. You walk in and ask for a bike, and a human robot repeats what they must say to everyone. You can barely understand what they are saying as they just repeat the same thing in rapid fire with no intonation or personality. Then you are passed on to the next person: agree you want a bike, sign contract, listen to spiel, get helmet, get bike, go. However I wanted a bike with a larger frame. Obviously no one ever asks for a different sized bike, as I had to repeat myself 3 times before the man understood what I was saying. Finally he got me a larger framed bike. As I said it was all fine, but this business is a large machine with absolutely no personal service. If I go to SFO again I will look for a more personal bike rental place.

We hired bikes from Blazing Saddles by Aquatic Park and cycled across the Golden Gate bridge to Sausalito, we got the ferry back across with the bikes and cycled the Embarcadero back to the shop. Nice bikes, they come with a little map on the handlebars and the guy in the shop shows you too. The ride has a couple of hills at the start up to the Bridge but after that is easy. We really enjoyed it, and Sausalito is a lovely little place well worth spending the afternoon.
