Stayed here with a couple of friends and we loved it! The room was spacious, the location is very near the shopping area and the service was excellent.

Pack your walking shoes and a jacket as this is a city that using public transportation and walking are the only way to see the sites. This hotel is 2 1/2 blocks up Sutter from Powell St. The hotel is recently refurbished and is very comfortable. Don't expect a room with a view, this is a city hotel and views are blocked by the surrounding buildings. More than likely your view will be of an air shaft. The condo rooms do not have a stove/oven; only refridgerator, microwave, coffee pot and toaster. With all the great foods in SF who wants to stay in the room to cook. You'll need to ride public transportion because parking is very expensive or doesn't exist, so don't think of renting a car except to get out of the city (Napa?). Pick up a "Passport", which is used for unlimited rides on the MUNI System (Cable Cars, Trolleys, Buses and MUNI subway). The Passport and a good route map can be purchased for 1, 3 or 7 days at the Vistor's Center at Market & Powell.
We rode the BART from the Oakland Airport to Market & Powell for $6.80 ($3.00 for Air-Bart and $3.80 for the BART). Cheaper and quicker than a cab or shuttle.
Union Square is about a 3 block walk from the hotel and Chinatown is about 10 blocks. Groceries and breakfast items can be purchased from Walgrens or the 7-11 at Powell & Sutter. The Mom & Pop grocery stores in the area are very expensive. Resturants in the area of the hotel are limited, so plan to eat at the Wharf, Chinatown, North Beach or any of the other ethnic districts.

Room Tip: We took a room overlooking Sutter, had street noise but more of a view than an airshaft.

Recently stayed a week at the Wyndham Canterbury at San Francisco. The location was great as long as you don’t walk west from the Canterbury. More on that later...

Check in was efficient and the clerk was courteous. We were assigned to an interior suite on the 3rd floor. It was quiet and everything we needed was there. At the end of the hallway was a laundry room. It had one washer and one dryer. I believe there are laundry rooms on every odd floor. There are two elevators and both seemed to function properly. In the basement, there is an ice machine that is self served along with a soda vending machine. On the main floor there is a nice workout room with several machines and free weights. Two TV’s are mounted on the wall. Towels and water are provided. There is also a lounge for timeshare members.

The one bedroom suite was clean and it had a large bathroom. The bedroom was really small, but the decent sized living room made up for it. There was plenty of storage available. The queen sized bed was comfortable, however the sleeper sofa was not so. I would not recommend an adult sleep on the sofa bed. It might be better for a kid. There is a microwave however no stove. There is a counter sized refrigerator enough for left overs and soda pop. There is a small compartment on top for an ice tray. We didn’t’ do any cooking as we ate out most of the time. There are several great restaurants nearby. Make sure you try Sanraku, the Japanese restaurant next door. They had good sushi and the service was friendly.

We checked in on Friday for a timeshare stay and a mid week cleaning was offered on Monday. All the staff seemed friendly and courteous.

We bought a weekly transit pass for $27 which allowed us to travel throughout the city. We made the mistake of getting off the bus at Jones Street near the hotel and was accosted by a “bum” threatening me and my young son while walking to the Canterbury. That was a first for me in San Francisco, actually in any city. The city needs to “take care’ of their homeless problem better. We go to San Francisco every year and this year it seems like there were more homeless people and they were more aggressive.

Overall a great timeshare in the city. Definitely would stay here again…….

Room Tip: Rooms away from the street are quieter...

We are a family of four and Wyndham owners. This was our first visit, but not our last. We had very comfortable accommodations in a spacious 3BR, 3BA presidential suite. The suite is well furnished with modern decor. There were flat screens in every room. Beds and sheets were very comfortable. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious.

Visiting from NYC, but I am formerly of SF, the suite was perfect for hosting friends and family in the area dropping by to pay us visit. There was a full kitchen, so it was easy to serve guests coffee, tea, drinks and snacks. Space is a premium. Our suite gave each of us privacy and reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city. Upon our every return to our suite, we all felt a relaxed ambience. Our suite was home away from home.

The location can't be beat. We were within walking distance to Union Square, Nob Hill, Chinatown. There's plenty of public transit available. Valet parking is $30/day.

The game room and gym were a treat. We spent late hours playing foos ball.

Thank you, JT, at the front desk! He was always smiling, knowledgable and very helpful. Thank you also, Michelle G of member services! She provided me with owner updates. All the employees at Wyndham Canterbury were kind and accommodating during my family's stay. We are very pleased with the attention and service. We look forward to returning soon.

Room Tip: Parking is $30+/day. Don't miss California Academy of Science @ Golden Gate Park.

We had a 1 bedroom Presidential suite which was great. The décor of the unit was very nice and very roomy. The beds and pillows were very comfortable (I wanted to take one of the pillows home with me ☺). There are two TV’s in the unit. The bathroom is good size with two sinks. Couch was pretty uncomfortable to sit on, but we didn’t do a lot of sitting on it. Unit had a mini kitchen with all necessary appliances. Many restaurants are walkable from Wyndam.

The location is very good and convenient to all transportation. We purchased a MUNI visitor pass which paid for itself within a day or two. We used BART from the Oakland airport, getting off at Powell (and returned to airport same way). We only had carryon roller bags, so it was easy to walk to Wyndam, which is about 10-15 minute walk from Powell. It is slightly uphill, but not bad.

Room Tip: If you can get a Presidential unit, they are great.

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. First, you have to realize you are in a city, keeping that in mind this was one spacious and modern spot. Considering what you get for this location this is a bargain. Odd floors have washers. There is some street noise but this is a city after all. Front desk friendly, coffee in the morning and cookies and water and the newspaper all nice touches. We didn't rent a car, it is a city after all. We got a citypass (look into that if you don't know what that is) and we were able to ride the cable cars, the F line, the muni buses. We took the BART system to Powell Street from the airport (I think it was 8 dollars a person) and then we walked up (mistake, if someone tells you up grab a cab) to the hotel. I lived in NYC so I am used to public transportation.

We ate in several great spots, for people watching and a burger walk DOWN to Union Square go to Macys and grab a burger, great views of people shopping and the burger was great. Grab an Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista by the cable car turn around. Breakfast at Loris was YUM, and the desk will give you a discount there. OH, hot choc. at Ghiardilli square. You will be walking everywhere and burning it all off.

DO NOT MISS: Tour Alactraz. If you get a chance hire a car to take you to the napa. My other favorite of course was the bridge. So much to do in SF.

Room Tip: odd floors have washer dryer. If you have problems with noise ask for rooms that might not face the...

No in house restaurant, no pool, but not the best neighborhood. Too close to the Tenderloin district. No parking facilities, just valet parking service. The suite we stayed in was spacious and well appointed with above average quality linens and dishware.

The elevator was small and old but adequate for the elderly person with us in a wheelchair. The overall facility was built primarily around the idea of selling Wyndham resorts, but so poorly laid out and poorly designed that I consider this a second-class hotel.

The Wyndham Resort sales people were very pushing and unpleasant.... totally turned me off. But the concierge people were extremely pleasant and helpful.
